“I was running a little behind but when I got there the nurse called me back immediately. She was really nice and gave me a minute to catch my breath. Then I met Dr. Madkour was so welcoming and he really took the time to listen about all my concerns even the ones outside of OBGYN!! I have found 4 doctors in a row that were Awesome!! GW is number 1 for me. I would 100% recommend Dr. Madkour to be anyone's OB Provider!! ”

About Dr. Amr Madkour

Dr. Amr Madkour is an Obstetrician Gynecologist at The GW Medical Faculty Associates and an assistant professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He is a graduate of Texas Tech School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as a chief resident and received the coveted Ungula Sinistra Award for excellence in surgery and patient care by the Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Society.
Dr. Madkour’s clinical interests focus primarily on minimally invasive surgery, high risk pregnancy and international medicine, especially improving access and quality of care for women in resource challenged countries. That passion led him to teach at a university hospital in Hue, Viet Nam and assist in with an NGO struggling to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.
In 2012, he served as an obstetrician and gynecologist with Doctors Without Borders, and worked in the north of Nigeria providing emergency obstetric care for women where the mortality from complications of childbirth are among the highest in the world. The physically and emotionally challenging work he did there, prepared him to tackle many of the most challenging obstetric complications women face during childbirth.

He was nice during my appointment, but he was very forgetful. Said he'd send my prescription right away, but it took him a few days and at least 2 phone calls. Additionally, I found out months later that he had never sent in my sample for my pap smear - he just forgot. ????????????? Cool.

This visit was a great experience. The receptionist was quick and polite and a nurse saw me within a few minutes of my appointment time. She was very professional and efficient. Dr. Madkour is absolutely AMAZING, and I genuinely mean that. I went in for annual checkup and had some questions about getting an IUD, he answered all of my questions honestly and thouroughly. I booked my appointment to get the iud inserted that day. With the week leading up to getting the iud I did some internet research... if you are thinking about getting an iud PLEASE DO NOT do this. I thought I was going into the appointment of doom!! Still.. I decided to go through it. I got to the doctors office and was absolutely terrified, Dr madkour was so understanding and calming. It almost made me forget what I was having done. He was so gentle and talked me through the whole thing. Dr madkour is by far one of the best doctors I have ever had. Also, the skyla IUD was the best decision I have ever made, if you are thinking about it, just do it!

Dr. Madkour was very nice and open to hearing about my problems and was really thoughtful when deciding on my treatment. It was the first time I had a pelvic exam and I thought since he was a man I would feel uncomfortable. But he talked me through everything and there were two women in the room, so it wasn't completely awkward.
