Getting to know Dr. Amy Rosenberg

I am a licensed psychologist who provides psychotherapy for individuals across the adult lifespan, ranging from young adults to geriatrics. I place emphasis on establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship in an effort to help patients facilitate meaningful life changes, ease suffering, and work toward achieving personal goals. I have a unique interest in helping individuals experiencing major life transitions, struggling with relationship issues, or navigating challenges associated with LGBTQ concerns. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and hold a Bachelor's degree from Quinnipiac University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In my practice, my main focus is on helping the individuals I work with to feel safe and comfortable. I recognize that entering into therapy can be a big step for many, and I make every effort to tailor my approach to meet the unique and individualized needs of each and every person I work with. My goal is to help you to identify important goals and to work collaboratively to help to achieve those goals in our work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session together, we will spend time getting to know one another. This is an opportunity for us to determine whether or not we are a good fit. I will spend some time getting to know you by gathering relevant background information, discussing current concerns/reasons why you are currently seeking treatment, and we will work together to identify goals for our sessions. In follow up sessions, we work together to explore current stressors, life challenges, and obstacles which may be getting in the way of living a meaningful and happy life.

I am no stranger to therapy, years ago as a younger person I benefitted from having a really good therapist guide me through some exceptionally difficult times. Up until recently I felt I was getting by in life and doing OK, but I eventually began to experience challenges that were resurfacing from the past. It had been so many years since I had been in a session, so when I reached out to Dr. Rosenberg for our first visit, I was hesitant because the idea of starting over with a new therapist felt daunting. What did help was Dr. Rosenberg's willingness to listen to my feelings of even revisiting therapy, and her flexibility in working together to decide the best approach that would help me address my resurfacing issues. As I began to share the basis of what was going on in my life, I realize that I was afraid to share some of the deep rooted aspects because I greatly feared judgment, even from a professional therapist. As scary as it was to address, I chose to speak directly to that with Dr. Rosenberg. I was incredibly relieved by the way she was able to put my mind at ease. She reassured me that she would be there to help me figure out a path that would allow me to live a fulfilling life that would hopefully one day be free of self-judgement. This was something I really wanted, but realized I had not yet achieved. She truly does care, and I think she has a great energy about her. Dr. Rosenberg’s knowledge and insight combined with a calm demeanor is a blessing. While the path [for me] is ongoing and sometimes scary, thanks to her help I can truly say I feel there are going to be a lot of great things to live for and look forward to experiencing during the rest of my life.
Dr Rosenberg always shows empathy and compassion through our sessions. She demonstrates to ability to provide clarity on complex situations, and guides me through handling tough circumstances. She has made me feel extraordinarily comfortable throughout the process, and continues to provide tremendous support for me.
Dr Rosenberg was there for me at my most vulnerable time in my life. She helped me back up on my feet. She always made herself available when I needed to talk. I felt her support throughout my journey to get better. I have no words to express how grateful I am for all her help & support.
