About Dr. Andrew Engel
Dr. Engel attended the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree and George Washington University where he received his M.D. in 1992. He completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University Medical Center in 1996. Dr. Engel is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. He is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioners (MSCP).
Dr. Engel has been with Reiter, Hill and Johnson since 2009, and has consistently demonstrated his commitment to helping women in the Washington, D.C., area live healthier lives. I found him to be very dismissive and he watered down my problems without really coming from a place of understanding to how they can be affecting me personally. I tell him what I’m experiencing and he goes “Well, what do you want me to do about it?” I gave up on communicating my actual problems with him early on into the appointment because of his cold & strange demeanor. I won’t be seeing a male doctor again if he can’t be emotionally receptive.

I am a new patient with Dr. Engel because my prior gyno retired. The office is very nice, clean, and updated. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The medical assistant was detail oriented and thorough. Dr. Engel was welcoming, took time to get to know me, and didn't rush our appointment. Everything was on time and efficient, but not hurried.
I do want to highlight that the wait to have blood taken was long (1 hour). Blood is taken through a LabCorp contractor on-site and it is not a comment on the doctor office's efficiency. If you need bloodwork and are tight on time, ask for an estimated wait time for on-site and/or book an appointment/walk in to the LabCorp downstairs in the lobby. I believe they would've been faster than an hour.
Great experience! Will return and look forward to a long-term relationship with this office.

I will not return back to Dr. Engel as he was dismissive of my concerns. I asked how serious was it that my iud replacement to be checked and the reply was, 'you're not having sex anytime soon'. It doesn't matter if I am or not. What is of concern is that the iud is in place and working. He made gestures like said, I wouldn't know while I was talking about my period that didn't make me feel heard.
There were notes in my summary that we didn't even discuss.
I will be looking for a new doctor next year.

I wish I had a better experience. It was a telehealth consult, and the staff on the phone were very rude. I had some basic questions, but they kept saying things like, "The doctor doesn’t see any patients until the eighth week." When I explained that I just wanted to ask a few questions, they responded with, "Oh, we can't confirm a pregnancy over the phone. "Like, obviously, I know that? I didn’t feel comfortable at all.
The doctor was very direct but also nice and patient with all my questions.

Dr. Engel conducted a satifactory exam and the office was pleasant. However, I had questions about birth control options and non-hormonal IUDs. Without asking for any context on my needs, Dr. Engel was immediately dismissive, telling me that "whatever poison I thought was in [hormonal birth control] was not a concern". He didn't bother to inquire about why I was evaluating options. This was fsirly concerns and eroded my trust in him as a treatment provider.

Dr Engle is very personable and knowledgeable. He made me feel very comfortable and was easy to talk to. I learned some new things and left with a squeaky clean bill of health.
I loved the ambiance and style of the exam rooms too. It was an overall great experience.

I loved my experience there from the people in the front to the nurses to my doctor. He made me feel so comfortable, but I even started emotionally crying and made me feel so much better about what I was going through. I would definitely recommend him for any woman, especially their mid 30’s have some type of concerns !
