Verified Patient Reviews
Dr Turtel is a great professional, outstandingly patient and comprehensive, gave me all the explanations I needed and waited for my partner when I asked him to narrate to both of us. His diagnosis and further directions for the recovery process were very accurate. He is responsive in follow up consultations. The staff, especially was highly attentive and considerate. I got the best care from them and fell in very good hands. I would earnestly recommend this practitioner!
I've used ZocDoc for several appointments but Dr. Turtel was the greatest doctor that I've met through this site! Even though I made the appointment the night before, he made sure to see me and he was a wonderful listener and helped to diagnose the issue in my lower extremities. He was very knowledgeable and compassionate and a gem in the sports medicine field! Laura (his assistant) was also very kind and helpful in the referral process to get an MRI screening. Also, Dr. Turtel personally called me the next day to follow up with my MRI results. So impressive!! Overall, I had a very pleasant visit and highly recommend Dr. Turtel! Thank you!
Very thorough took proper time and explained scenarios/potential injuries in much detail.
Andrew was professional, thoughtful and had excellent recommendations
Dr. Turtel saw me right away even though I showed up extremely early, which was a great sign. Afterwards, he paid a lot of attention to my problem and answered every question I asked. He was very professional but at the same time, you could definitely tell that he cared and knew what he was talking about. Highly recommended!
Dr. Turtel followed up with me via phone as soon as he received my MRI results which was appreciated.
He was wonderful and answered all my questions and concerns. Would highly reccomend him!
What a pleasant surprise. I found him on DocZoc and he was the first available. But I'm so glad that I went to him. He was a wealth of knowledge and was patient and understanding. I just went in for an ankle sprain, but would totally go to him again for other sports injuries. The front desk receptionist was also very helpful.
Not sure if this is a zoxdoc problem or if the actual doc office is misrepresenting which insurance they accept. I made an appt with an IN network doctor, filled out 20 mins of info online and sent it in ahead of my appt. Then waited 45!!!!!!!!! Minutes and was eventually told that they don't accept my insurance. My dissatisfaction is at an all time high!
His assistant was very nice, however I showed up 30 min early to fill out any remaining paperwork, and he still didn't see me for over 45 min past my scheduled appointment time. People in the office seem to just be wandering around aimlessly and moving slowly, which for me was frustrating since it was the middle of my work day. He saw other clients before me who showed up after I did, which seemed unprofessional to me since I had arrived so much earlier then needed and was still not attended to. I had an x-ray done and the technician didn't even offer me any radiation protection, which I found interesting because he specifically shut the door to the area he was occupying every time he took the snapshot. The diagnosis was normal and maybe took 3 min to explain. I excited fairly quickly and he told me to call a different specialist if I had any problems. I will most likely not be going back.
Good visit. Very prompt and answered all my questions.
Very knowledgeable doctor . I would definitely recommend him . I appreciated not feeling rushed. Maybe one of the best experiences I have had with doctors in NYC
Not my first visit. Professional, to the point, courteous manner. Would see him again but would rather not have to.
The dr was very nice and took extra time to make sure I understand all the options and possibilities.
GREAT DR AND GREAT OFFICE!.TOOK ME RIGHT IN AND DR WAS GREAT!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Dr. Turtel was attentive, had great bedside manner. I did not feel rushed. I also appreciated the x-rays to be done instantly--did not have to have a referral and go to a radiology lab. I have already referred him to a colleague. Highly recommend.
I was really happy Dr. Turtel sat with me for a while to talk about my 15 year old injury. I was also very late to my appointment because of subway troubles and they got me in right away, despite that. He's really kind and easy to talk to. Highly recommended.
This was my 2nd visit to Dr. Turtel, again he was right on time and he addressed my issue/concerns immediately. Would certainly recommend him.
Dr. Turtel was very professional. You can tell he is very knowledgeable and he was able to address all of the questions I had regarding my injury. Would recommend to a friend.
Top notch! Recommend very highly.
Dr. Turtel was attentive, asked questions to get my issue resolved. Little wait time and great service!
Absolutely the best medical care I've ever received. Dr. Turtel is everything I'd ever want in a physician.
Really nice and very informative!
Now over a year after my ACL/MCL injury (and nearly a year from surgery) -- everything feels great. Dr. Turtel was amazing through the whole process, inspired great confidence and I could not be any happier. Thank you!!!
Excellent from beginning to end.
He was really helpful and thorough in diagnosing my issue. I didn't feel rushed and he genuinely seems to care about patients. I appreciated receiving a follow-up email with useful stretches. Office staff is helpful and friendly too!
Fantastic bedside manner and generous with his time.
The Dr. was very good and very thorough, but his office staff handling billing is terrible. Took 2 months to get the bill for a simple visit straightened out.
excellent bedside manner and followup with test results. Answered all my question and concerns.
Dr. Turtel is clearly accustomed to working with athletes and his first instinct is to quickly request an MRI/X-Ray, without being very thorough. Even if the end result is that an MRI/X-Ray is ideal, Dr. Turtel was more concerned with telling me that the injuries I was told I had by other orthopedists in the past were probably incorrect diagnoses, than he was in taking the time to substantiate those claims and try to find a solution. I was given ONE additional stretch to do, which required a table, plus a recommendation to get an MRI/X-ray - that's it. I've since gone to another doctor was thorough, excellent, and I feel much better about my situation. This was a waste of my time, and my co-pay. I would not recommend this doctor.
Dr Turtel was highly recommended to me by several colleagues. His outstanding reputation is well deserved! He is thorough, respectful, and knowledgable. I recommend him most highly and without reservation.
Great again, for the second time! Friendly, honest, gives a very good impression. Good diagnosis (his initial diagnosis was confirmed by the MRI). Very pleased!
Seemed professional and courteous. Ordered and MRI to confirm diagnosis, and also seemed to truly have my best interest at heart.
I found him very patient and informative, I would recommend him to everyone.
Dr. Turtel was quick yet thorough. He took time to carefully explain everything and even used pictures and models. I left the office with a very clear understanding of my injury and the limitations it caused. He answered all of my questions and was very friendly.
Second visit. Very compassionate. Very competent as well. Did not have a gruff surgeon's manner at all. Highly recommend him.
My experience was professional and helpful. No matter the question, I was answered in a very respectful manner with specific answers. My issues and treatment options were thoroughly explained. As well, I was assited in navigating the medical option I choose.
Took the time to explain in detail the issues and ways to treat. Seems more concerned with patient welfare than performing unnecessary procedures for financial gain - how refreshing!
He was very thorough and informative with my Sport Injury. I was in and out of the office within an hour and that included an x-ray. I would definitely recommend.
Awesome doctor who was very thorough and professional. Will continue to see him and his staff due to their overwhelmingly great care and guidance in my injury.
Well organized office, i was seen on time. Dr. Turtel was very pleasant, did not rush his answers, and explained everything really well. Doctor's diagnosis of my problem made me a bit skeptical at first since it did not make any sense to me, but the MRI proved what the Doctor predicted. I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely recommend Dr. Turtel to my friends.
Dr. Turtel took his time discuss my injury. Was able to get an x-ray in the office right away and he followed up by phone with my doctor
Great experience explained everything to my satisfaction
Dr. Turtel was very thorough and caring. He took the time to explain everything very carefully. I would recommend him.
Dr Turtel was excellent, I was impressed. Not sure what the bad reviews are about, but there are all types out there. In this case he was able to diagnose my issue right away and explained everything. I have been to many doctors for other sport related issues, and Dr Turtel was great.
Very attentive, answered all my questions.
He was smart, articulate and down to earth in his review and recommendations. He was also careful to assess the degree of injury I had sustained.
Little bit of a wait to see the doctor. The appt. scheduled at 11:45, probably saw me at 12 noon, but he was on top of it, once we got started. He was friendly and straightforward, knew what was up and the X-Ray (on premises) confirmed it. Out with a diagnosis and script within the hour.
Dr. Turtel was very professional and fluent during my appointment. He began asking me general questions in regards to my knee, then immediately began to check it out. He informed me that I have plica syndrome of the knee and it's not normally something that requires surgery, but in some cases surgery has been necessary. Rather than giving me an MRI, Dr. Turtel showed me an exercise to do 2-3 times a day, in efforts to cut the inflammation, and noted that he would send me a file with different exercises for me to work on at home. However, since my visit I've done the one exercise he's showed me with no satisfactory result. Not only did I never receive an email, but the inflammation has been picking up lately. I'll go and get a second opinion somewhere else.
Answers all your questions and very patient. So nice!
I went to see Dr. Turtel over a reoccurring shoulder injury I have. His advice and assurance were exactly what I needed. Great to find a doctor that leaves you feeling full of trust and gratitude.
I was just in for a follow up on a shoulder injury. Staff was great & friendly. Quick, no wait time. I will certainly be saving his contact info for the future.
It was very strange. So many people waiting in the lobby. Everyone seemed very awkward and not professional. I just felt like another number, not an actual patient. Sent me a generic email about stretches, but didn't say where to find them, which ones to do - so I'm really excited about sorting through several dozen categories with numerous stretches - and who knows if I will actually find what I need. Seriously irritating all around, especially when you are barely maneuvered to best assess injuries. Who actually knows if nothing was wrong with me knee....because it still feels like something absolutely is. Save your time and cash and go to Hospital for Special Surgery.
Fantastic and straight forward.
Very professional; explained well the options available to me in terms of treatment, highly recommended for those who require the services of a Ortho Surgeon.
Great Doc... Saw me quickly, got x-rays done on site and was treated with enthusiasm and quality care.
Great service, nice demeanor and very efficient!
He asked the right questions and I left feeling confident of his prognosis.
I went in with severe pain in my shoulder blade shooting into my arm. After taking an x-ray he saw the beginnings of Arthritis. He said I should take Advil and wear a collar to sleep. The next few days I had gotten worse so I called back. He actually came to the phone to speak with me. Due to the extreme pain he prescribed a stronger anti-inflammatory. He would not prescribe PT without an MRI in case there was something more serious going on. I ended up doing PT since I was going on vacation and luckily it solved my issue. A friend of mine gave me a Lidocaine patch which helped as well. When I called the office and requested a prescription they took care of it in an expedient matter. The three main reasons why I liked this doctor: 1. Not a drug pusher..he only prescribed drugs when over the counter ones were not effective 2.He was very accessible and his staff was a pleasure. 3. Does not mention surgery..only to be considered as a last resort. He is the FIRST orthopedist that did not mention surgery during the first visit.
Right on time. Did a good job of explaining the condition I was dealing with. Had an x-ray machine right in his office so was able to take the x-ray and review within 5 minutes. His treatment plan makes sense.
Very professional and explained everything in layman's terms. Comes across as very sincere. Very comprehensive versus previous physician who just went through the motions. Identified the issue and what needs to be done including details of the procedure. Office set up indicative of the level of professionalism of Dr. Turtel.
Great doctor, caring, gentle, and honest.
Great visit! Dr. Turtel listened carefully to my concerns and explained everything to me very clearly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a good Orthopedist.
Really great doctor. Not only he gave me advise, he also explained me about about flat foot and things related to it. Very professional doctor.
Everything about my visit was pleasant! Dr. Turtle's office staff was efficient and friendly. The doctor was right on time, explained things clearly and completely, and did not appear rushed.
