Dr. Arlette Marrero-Abreu was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where her passion for science and caring for others first took shape. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 2016 before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2020. During her doctoral training, Dr. Marrero-Abreu served as both a tutor and instructor, supporting the next generation of optometry students while strengthening her own clinical knowledge and leadership skills. Her dedication to excellence was recognized through multiple academic honors, including the Diversity Enhancement Fellowship and the Paul Pietsch and Aaron Wernimont Scholarships. She is also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.
