Originally from Marin County, California, Dr. Shafton received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of California, San Diego. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo, College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine from the University of Michigan Hospital Systems in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a fellowship in cardiology from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Shafton is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Vascular Medicine.
“I love interacting on a personal level with patients and helping them become active participants in their care. I enjoy the problem solving aspect of cardiology and find it rewarding to help patients with theirs.”
When not working, Dr. Shafton volunteers to travel to other countries for work. He has worked in Mwanza, Tanzania and Bejing, China. Additionally, he enjoys the outdoor lifestyle that living in Colorado provides including hiking, cycling, and running.
