About Dr. Ashley Cauthen
Dr. Cauthen is a native Floridian and grew up in northern Marion County. She moved to Tampa to pursue her undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida’s Honor College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. From there, she enrolled in Florida State University’s College of Medicine, where she successfully completed her graduate medical studies.
Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Cauthen returned to Tampa for Dermatology residency. During her residency, Dr. Cauthen had the great privilege of working at the prestigious Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa General Hospital, in addition to the University’s outpatient dermatology clinic. The variability in these patient populations allowed Dr. Cauthen to diagnose and treat a wide range of ailments ranging from life threatening skin cancers and rashes to ‘run of the mill’ acne and psoriasis. Dr. Cauthen was also fortunate enough to have extensive training at the University’s Cosmetic and Laser Center where she was deeply involved with the treatment of various cosmetic concerns.
Upon graduating from residency, Dr. Cauthen was employed by the James A Haley Veterans Hospital. Dr. Cauthen has had the honor of taking care of thousands of our country’s Veterans dermatologic needs and enjoyed her service to the Veterans immensely, so much so that she has committed to an ongoing part-time appointment with the VA.
Dr. Cauthen is married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas Cauthen, who has worked tirelessly to help her launch MidState Skin Institute, a dream she’s had for many years. The couple is blessed with two beautiful, energetic children, Madison and Brody.
