“This provider’s expertise and skill quickly make up for the long wait and quick encounters. He is a vastly above average ophthalmologist/surgeon being great at diagnosis and treatment algorithms. I’ve been with him for 3+ years and he has not once prescribed a medicine my insurance did not cover. Great skill and professionalism.”

“I will return for my follow-up appointment. However, it was disappointing to go through the following: 1. Prior to our arrival to your office, my wife called your office numbers close to 5 times to ensure I was being seen in the right office. No one picked up. Upon our arrival, my wife informed the receptionists she had made several calls to no avail. The response was "I'm sorry. " 2. Prescription was called into the pharmacy close to 3 hours after my appointment. It was upsetting to hear the phwrmacist say there no presxription submitted. We had to call your to inquire. Once the prescription went through,, we had issues with the insurance company denying payment for the medication. We were able to get in contact with the insurance company to get clarification and approval for a generic medication. Our " saving Grace" was " Elisa" from your office who was extremely helpful and responsive. She really made our evening!”

The receptionist and nurses were the nicest people there. He was cold and abrupt in his mannerisms.

I went to the appointment and most of the opthamology appt was done by the technician. Dr. Matta only came in for about 30 seconds to check for retinopathy and to talk to me about lasik surgery. And then I had to make a separate appointment for another day, which I was going to be charged for an additional visit for the eyeglass prescription. The contact lens exam was going to be an additional fee. Decided to cancel the optometrist appt and go elsewhere.
Made an appointment through Zocdoc. Get there 20 minutes earlier than my appointment time and the office was locked. No one was there. Definitely not recommended.

I made an appointment with Zocdoc, but the office doesn't know about the appointment I made here. There is no connection between Zocdoc and the doctor's office. They said that it is not enough to get it from Zocdoc, you also need to call the office and make an appointment and they did not examine me. I went in vain, for the first time I encountered a doctor's office that did not recognize the appointment from zocdoc.

the wait at this office is ridiculously long. it can be up to an hour or more. today I watched the doctor sitting by a computer terminal for 45 minutes while I sat there in the waiting area. I finally got up and walked out.
Verified patient
When I arrived for my appointment the waiting room was packed with patients all looking annoyed. I asked the receptionist if he was running on time and she said “no, at least an hour and a half wait! She didn’t volunteer this info, I had to ask. She said they were running that behind for hours. It would have been nice for a courtesy call or text letting me know. I get things happen, I’m in the healthcare field, but have the decency to alert patients to a very long wait time. I had to rush from my work for nothing. And the receptionist was fiddling with her nails and the techs were talking in the hall so someone definitely had time to call or text. Very poor experience.

I dislike rating people/experiences negatively online, but Zocdoc doesn't get the hint when I don't respond to their first and second requests. I would prefer that you don't post this but instead contact his office to make him aware of this negative review so issues can be addressed and fixed without hurting his ratings. As far as the office goes, fire the cleaning staff and hire someone who knows how to use a magic eraser and a dust rag. Just because people visiting that office are seeking vision care doesn't mean we can't see the scuff marks on the walls, the dust on the equipment and the generally poor condition of the exam rooms... and rethink the staffing- it has been SIX days since my appointment and my pharmacy has yet to receive the prescription that was to be sent over. Finally, there is no excuse for the first scheduled appointment of the day to be first seen by a staff member an hour and a half later than scheduled and the doctor at the two hour mark.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, The doctor was very friendly as well. After the consultation, I was sure that he really was the doctor I wanted to perform the surgery. Just one visit, and he instilled the confidence I needed. However, I lost my paperwork to schedule the surgery, because In the interim I went away for 1 month and I am back and I’ve been trying to contact the office to schedule the surgery to no avail. Help!!!!

No one was in the office until 10 minutes after my appointment was scheduled. I was seen after other patients that arrived after me. Doctor wouldn’t release my prescription until an unnecessary follow up appointment.

Office very crowded, no masks on most staff Eye drops opened and used for multiple pts, there was a table full of open drops for dilation unmarked w date opened, not single use, used for multiple patients. very bad practice MD did not address issue I was there for Waited over an hour both times I was there Will not go back, would not recommend
The front staff has to work on their customer service. The eye doctor looked like he was in a hurry. Doctors should be patient and take time to listen to a patient. I felt like he was in a rush & just needed to get it done.

Dr. Gregory polar is amazing. He takes his time to listen to your concerns and makes sure you leave with a smile. I didn’t feel rushed or that the he didn’t care about my concerns for coming in for a visit. Thank you to your team and you for being an amazing doctor.
Verified patient
The doctor was just not nice lol just so unfriendly and didn’t even say hi or bye- You just feel like you’re not cared for. Also tried selling me supplements and extra eye drops lol
Verified patient
Staff was great, they took care of all the preliminary tests and processed my paperwork immediately. They were also very friendly and efficient. I did have to wait for the doctor for a bit but when I saw him he was fine, not the best bedside manner but not the worst either- don’t expect small talk from this doctor but he did communicate my issues clearly when I asked which was good.
Would not recommend. The office was unclean, unprofessional. The doctor did not explain what he was doing or get consent. He was extremely quick and rushed.
Office in Orangeburg was physically in very poor shape. Broken chairs used in exam rooms and lots of clutter and did not seem clean.

Everything beside the wait was great
The office staff are excellent and efficient. As a first time patient with great vision concerns, I was not aware that the wait would be long. I explained to the receptionist at the desk, who is very nice and courteous, that I had a meeting to return to on time and with the wait, I would have to reschedule. She very kindly got me in with enough time to have the preliminary tests done and see the doctor. He is very professional and was very clear of what was needed. I will see him again for follow up care.
