About Dr. Barbara Chen
Dr. Chen has resided in Texas since the age of three. She grew up in the Dallas metroplex and completed high school at Plano East Senior High. Dr. Chen then received her Bachelor’s of Music at Vanderbilt University and her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Her specialty training was completed at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Dr. Chen is currently Board Certified and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She speaks English, Chinese (Mandarin), and Spanish. Dr. Chen selected OB/Gyn as her specialty because of her passion for women’s healthcare.
Dr. Chen currently enjoys spending time with her family: husband, Aaron, her children, Kenji & Sabine, and their French bulldog, Couscous. Her hobbies include painting, traveling, cooking, and playing the cello and piano.

Dr. Chen was referred to me several years ago by a friend. Her office is convenient for me and easy to get to. I continue to go back to Dr. Chen each year because she is in tune to my needs and communicates very well. She really listens to my needs and makes recommendations for me to try. I waited for over 30 minutes before being seen. Then once the nurse took my vitals, I waited another 20+ minutes for Dr. Chen to arrive. After Dr. Chen saw me and discussed my health, she left while I changed. That was at least another 15 minute wait. For a 5 minute exam, I was in the office for 2 hours.
She was very thorough, has a lot of knowledge, but I felt pressured to do a lot of tests, work-ups, etc. I declined, as I felt it was unnecessary.
I will not go back.

Dr Chen was great. I have had a hard time in the past finding a good Obgyn to discuss permanent birth control options with because of my desire to not ever have children. Dr Chen was polite, non-judgemental and easy to talk to about my situation.

It's so hard to find a genuine doctor with a genuine heart to love and care for her patients. I've had so many experiences with doctors that made me question if they are only working for the money. Dr. Chen is incredibly patient and considerate. She is honest with you and is real with you on everything. Our first appointment made us feel like we've known her forever. She is a blessing. I'm so thankful we picked her to help us through our first pregnancy.

I liked Barbara Chen from the time she walked in she introduced herself, then we talk. I didn't feel rushed, she explained what our process was going to take place on our well visit ( like who doesn't know what is going to take place at an OB-GYN annual visit) but it was nice for her to go over it and to give you written information on what is needed on my part to stay healthy and what vitamins to take.

Nice,but an after thought. Inspite of the fact she didn't give me any positive feedback.
I was there 15minutes early and still got stuck in a room for 45minutes with no contact. Then when she finally did see me if was short and no so sweet and I could have gotten as much information off the Internet as I did from her. I am sure she is a good doctor to some, but all she was to me was a negative sounding board.
