Getting to know Dr. Brian Burgess

I am a client-centered therapist and psychologist with a PsyD and Master's in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and over 13 years of experience working with couples and individuals aged 18 and older. My schedule is generally Monday through Thursday from 9-5 PT and Friday from 9-3 PT. You can expect me to be empathic and understanding of your concerns, without judgment. I won't tell you how to live your life or give advice you haven't asked for. If you want advice, please don't hesitate to ask-I will do my best. I work with you to help you gain insight into what is bothering you. Together, we can find new ways of understanding yourself (self-empathy) and discover or change how you view the world around you. We can work to relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety. My goal is to help you better handle feelings and emotions so you can live a happier, more fulfilled life without needing my support. What are your goals? What would you like to work on with me?

What should a new client know about working with you?

Insight and understanding of themselves. Feelings of being understood by me. Different perspectives and ways of lolling at problems and issues. Relief from depressed or anxious mood.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Brian is great! You can really tell that he’s listening and trying to understand your needs. He is great at reflecting your words back to you, so you truly understand how you’re feeling. I would highly recommend Brian.
Excellent job of reframing what the client is saying to ensure he's understood correctly. Doesn't believe in process / behavioral addictions (eg gaming or sexual addiction) but still develops practical and effective strategies to deal with those problems/behaviors. Highly recommended.
