What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Richards employs a direct approach toward identifying and implementing the necessary steps to address the immediate goals of her clients, as well as promote insight and skill development for the long-term, self-awareness, and overall growth as an individual. Dr. Richards creates a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and accepting environment catered to the individual needs and mutual collaboration of goals. This is consistent with her personality, such that she believes in individuality and diversity, as well as the need to understand the perspective of others. An open discourse is imperative. Techniques employed include role-playing, insight building, supportive therapy, identifying cognitive impediments and restructuring such thoughts, as well as practical assignments.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Dr. Richards’ typical process of working with clients begin with an initial evaluation where historical data is obtained, current status is assessed and goals for working together are identified. Cl’s are then seen on a weekly or biweekly basis, as deemed appropriate. Subsequent sessions will utilize therapeutic interventions to achieve stated goals.
