What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first session I will get to know you and learn about what you have been experiencing. Together we will clarify a plan and discuss the indicated approach. During the treatment phase of therapy I typically use mindfulness, metaphors, and in the moment work to help address challenging thoughts and feelings. You might be asked to practice some of what we discussed between sessions so that we help support you. I want to help you learn to take a compassionate stance toward yourself and address challenges that are presenting for you. A session might start with a mindfulness exercise or a discussion about a pressing issue. We will work to understand some of the underlying thoughts and feelings that we help you approach them in a new way. Ultimately, we will work to help you clarify what's most important to you and take action despite the painful thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing.
