Are you seeking compassionate care combined with clinical expertise? My name is Teena and I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 20+ years of experience in the healthcare industry. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings both as a Behavioral Health RN and as a Psychiatric NP, and I possess "real world" experience treating psychiatric patients across the lifespan. I love my job! As a PMHNP, my focus is medication management. I will work closely with you to find the best medication regimen for your mental health needs. We will also discuss other aspects of your health including sleep, diet, exercise, stress reduction techniques, and nutritional supplementation. Although my focus is on medication management, I offer brief supportive therapy to empower you to take action to achieve your mental wellness goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I primarily work with adults seeking support for ADHD, depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances (such as insomnia). I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to take an active role in their care, engaged in the process, and open to collaboration and communication. Clients who are actively engaged in their care achieve the best results! Please know that Goochland Behavioral Health (GBH) is a small outpatient practice best suited for individuals who are stable and able to engage in routine care. We are not able to provide the level of support required for higher-acuity concerns, such as suicidal thoughts, mania, psychosis, or the need for 24/7 crisis availability. Additionally, we do not provide detox services or medication-assisted therapy (MAT) at this time. GBH looks forward to establishing a long-term professional relationship with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your intake appointment, we'll start with brief introductions, followed by a thorough review of your health history (including your submitted intake paperwork) and a thoughtful discussion of your current medications and lifestyle factors. Together, we’ll explore the specific challenges you’re facing. We will clarify psychiatric diagnoses to determine evidence-based treatment options, and I will assist you in choosing medications and/or therapeutic interventions tailored to your needs. Follow-up appointments provide ongoing medication management and supportive therapy, helping you build confidence, find balance, and feel empowered in your healing journey.

Teena is amazing! I was honestly skeptical having an online provider - I’d never used Zocdoc, and only had in person provider that I met w virtually on occasion. My main goal was to get an online provider while I moved so it would give me time to find someone on our new city. I was so pleasantly surprised - she was so easy to talk to and open up to, which we know is hard to do with a new provider. She said she was available via text, which is nice. It’s always hard to go through 3 people to get a message to your provider. I definitely would recommend Teena 100%!!!
