About Dr. Christopher Brumfield
My path to orthopedic surgery started with a family friend who worked as an emergency room physician. That was my first real look at medicine, and that exposure sparked something. As I learned more, orthopedic surgery felt like a natural fit. I have always been drawn to taking things apart and putting them back together, which is, in many ways, what an orthopedic surgeon does. Growing up with a passion for sports only deepened that pull toward orthopedics and sports medicine. I've been practicing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine since the mid-1990s, with a focus on adult reconstruction, knee surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery and the treatment of osteoarthritis. Whether I'm working with a young athlete recovering from an injury or an older patient managing joint pain that's slowing them down, my goal is the same: to help each person get back to the life they want to lead. At Novant Health, we believe in a team approach to care. The best outcomes occur when physicians and patients work together. My years of experience, particularly in sports medicine across all age groups, inform how I approach each case, but so does listening carefully to what matters most to each patient. The best outcome isn't just a clinical result; it's one that gives someone their life back.
