“Dr. Boita was fantastic in both of my sessions. He’s an excellent listener, but is also adept at keeping the conversation structured so that you feel that you have made progress and have actionable steps to take with you. He is very astute, and even from our first meeting I felt that he was piecing together who I am as an individual, and was catering his advice directly to me. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with anxiety, which is the issue I am currently working through. ”

Getting to know Dr. Colter Boita

I am a board-certified psychiatrist. I have had the privilege of working in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, consult liaison, and telehealth. I trained at Maimonides Medical Center, the largest hospital in South Brooklyn. This experience has equipped me to connect with diverse patient populations. I genuinely appreciate the unique facets that make you who you are. I strive to create a safe space where you feel valued and understood. Growing up in the beautiful state of Colorado, I have a deep appreciation for nature and its restorative qualities. As an Iraq War veteran, I offer a unique perspective. This perspective informs my practice. I am committed to supporting you on your journey to wellness. As part of my practice philosophy, I do not prescribe controlled substances. I am happy to explore other therapeutic approaches that support your individual needs and treatment goals. I'm currently welcoming new clients who are interested in weekly therapy focused on self-understanding, growth, and long-term change. My ideal client is curious, open to reflection, and committed to exploring the deeper patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Weekly sessions provide the consistency and momentum needed to create meaningful progress—and I work best with those who are ready to engage in that process.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I place a strong emphasis on therapy, with medication used as a tool to support deeper therapeutic work and manage underlying psychiatric conditions. If you're looking for a psychiatrist who will take the time to explore the root causes of your struggles, I offer extended, one-hour appointments—double the time of a typical medication visit—to create space for thoughtful, in-depth care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

While I’m highly skilled in diagnosis, my primary focus is on understanding how your symptoms show up in your daily life and affect your overall functioning. Together, we’ll explore your behaviors, coping strategies, and the underlying patterns that shape how you think and respond. From there, we’ll develop a plan that aligns with your goals—whether that includes therapy, medication, or both—with the ultimate aim of improving your quality of life and sense of well-being.
