About Dr. David Gerst
Our physicians are each a ?Board-Certified Physician of the Foot and Ankle.?
Dr. David A. Gerst has always had two interests: medicine and sports. It was only natural that this would lead him to combine those two passions by pursuing a career in podiatry.
For 30 years, Dr. Gerst has been helping Chicagoans with their foot needs through his podiatry practice. He earned his bachelor's degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago.
He has been treating Chicagoland patients for their foot problems since 1990. Dr. Gerst is also board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Gerst never gave up his love of sports and athletic activities. He has competed in a whopping 21 Ironman Triathlons, including one in Kona, HI in 2005.
He is also an avid runner, having completed nine marathons, including the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996. If he's not running, swimming, or biking, you might find Dr. Gerst enjoying the great outdoors with his wife and three children.

My overall experience was great the receptionist was very polite and professional. The nurse was very attentive. She communicated very well and Dr. Gerst handled my situation with care removing my ingrown tonail. Gee what a relief.

I was seen very quickly once I checked in , I sat for no more than 7-8mins … The staff was very friendly and I loved how clean the facility was , The doctor listened to me efficiently and heard all my concerns . He gave me great advice and allowed me to pick which course of treatment I wanted to go with. He didn’t force anything on that was unwanted . My appointment went very smoothly and it took him no longer than 20-25mins to give me a shot of cortisone and X-ray and measure my feet for my custom orthotics.

I want to share my experience during my visit to the office at 1516 S 87th Street. Unfortunately, I found the demeanor of the clerk to be unwelcoming and rude, which was quite off-putting. As a result, I did not feel comfortable proceeding with my appointment and I did not get to see the doctor.
I believe that a welcoming atmosphere is essential for ALL patients and not just the regulars, and I hope this feedback can help improve future interactions.

I would go back but I guess because there was an miscommunication and understanding that the bedside manner was sort of rude until later in the visit when the information was explained in a more clear and concise manner.

Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. Once into the examination room, everyone was helpful and explained matters well. The doctor analyzed the issue well and offered solutions until the issue could be resolved...possibly with surgery.

I was referred to him, and I was not disappointed. He took care of my foot, and explained to me how to take care of it. He is totally interested in the best care for his patients. He does not recommend any tests or products that you don't need. Therefore, you don't spend unnecessary monies. He is definitely my foot doctor from now on!
