David N. Powers, MD, FACOG, is board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He received his BA degree from Dartmouth College in 1973 and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977. He was a resident at The George Washington University Hospital (1977-1981) and was designated Chief Resident in 1980.
He has actively been involved in resident and medical student teaching since beginning practice in 1981. He has served on the GWU Hospital Perinatal Professional Advisory Group (PAG) Committee since that time.
He has been recognized by the Washingtonian Magazine as a Top Doctor annually.

It was my first time at this office and I was seen almost immediately upon arrival. The staff were helpful and friendly. Dr. Powers really took the time to get to know me as a new patient and made me feel as comfortable as possible. He listened to all of my concerns, was incredibly patient, and created a clear plan for the next steps. I will 100% be returning to this location.

This is the doctor that every person dreams will be THEIR doctor. He is prompt, kind, supportive, thoughtful and amazingly well informed in his area of expertise. I am lucky to have become his patient and would not consider straying.
All from a mature patient. Not being pregnant does not make me feel like an "also ran" in a practice. I am a healthy woman without problems, and Dr. Powers keeps me that way.

Dr. Powers is a great Ob/Gyn - kind, gentle, and open minded. He is the first and only male OB that I have ever been to, and I have no issues with it - he is incredibly knowledgeable and doesn't pitch unnecessary things. He is great and I would recommend him to everyone - esp. if you are hesitant about having a male dr. he is great!!

I've bee a patient of Dr. Powers for over 10 years and has had nothing but positive visits with him. He really gets to know you and provides sound advice.
I still have great visits with Dr. Powers but have been less happy with the front desk since he moved to the GW Medical Facility Ass. I don't care for the electronic check process and it doesn't make it clear if you need to check in with the desk staff as well. The staff is also very rude and dismissive about confusion. Check out is also confusing and not pleasant as well. I'm all for digital records and using tech when it makes sense but I'm not sure why they are using this system when every other medical offices using a simple sign in sheet with better front desk staffing.

Dr. Powers is great... I've been going to him for years and would recommend him highly. The problem is the front office system... Apparently somehow they failed to register that I had arrived, even though I checked in and provided my insurance card. After half an hour of waiting for my morning appointment I decided to check what was going on since I didn't think Dr. Powers could be so backed up with appointments so early in the day. Turns out he didn't know I was out there waiting. We were both pretty annoyed with the front desk, but I guess these things happen some time. I preferred when he had his own private practice but I guess those days are pretty much gone in health care these days...
