Getting to know Dr. David Shepard

My name is Dr. David Shepard, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and hold a Bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. I am also a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. When it comes to therapy, I tailor my approach to each individual, respecting their cultural backgrounds and the intersecting identities they bring into the therapeutic relationship.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, anger issues, relationship challenges, intimacy/sexual health, life transitions, sexuality/LGBTQ+, and identity/self-esteem issues. My therapeutic approach is integrative, multicultural focused, sex positive, collaborative, kink affirming, and strength based.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every session I strive to create a safe space for clients to feel seen, heard, understood, respected and supported. Within this safe space, I work collaboratively with clients for them to have a different experience of themselves, thereby creating opportunities of growth and change.
