Dr. Denise Burns-LeGros was born in Westerly, Rhode Island. While attending the University of Central Florida, she was part of the Honors College and LEAD Scholar’s Program. She graduated with a molecular and microbiology degree with University Honors. She then moved to Fort Lauderdale where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University and was president of her class. Following graduation, Dr. Burns-LeGros completed her residency in cornea and contact lens at Nova Southeastern University. In 2006, she completed a prestigious fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and in 2016 was presented the Young Optometrist of the South Award. Dr. Burns-LeGros is board certified by the Florida State Board of Optometry and has her diplomat in the American Board of Optometry. Her speciality is contact lenses with a focus on rigid gas permeable lenses, hybrid, overnight orthokeratology, and scleral contact lenses. Dr. Burns-LeGros, her husband, Brian, daughter, Emily, and son, David live in the Indialantic area. Her non-medical interests include jogging, traveling, and spending time with her family.
