What should a new client know about working with you?

I am highly collaborative and active in therapy, utilizing an interpersonal, feminist, and multicultural approach to help us combine your life experiences and identities with my professional knowledge to create a plan for therapy. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and often incorporate these techniques into my therapy. I strive to be informal and genuine in order to help you feel as comfortable as possible in working with me.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we first meet I will gather information about your current struggles as well as about other areas of your life so I can better understand your personal context. I want to find out your goals for therapy and I will share my own perspective on what I think is going on for you and on what might help you to feel better. We will work collaboratively to decide what to focus on and what strategies we use. I will check-in with you frequently to see how the process is going, to make sure that you are getting your needs met, and to add or change anything that would make therapy more effective.
