“Dr. Phelps was very nice, explained everything pretty thoroughly, answered all my questions & had good bed side manner. The gal who brought me back was nice & friendly too. The front desk gal needs work though.. She comes off unfriendly. Very Debbie downer-ish. No smiles or greeting when I walked in the door. I would have gave 5 stars if it wasn't for that.”

About Dr. Derek Phelps

Dr. Phelps graduated with Bachelor's and Doctor of Optometry degrees with High Honors from Indiana University. During his training he undertook clinical internships with Bennett and Bloom eye Centers, The Truhlsen Eye institute at University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Huntington VA Medical Center, and Indiana University Indianapolis. After completing an ocular disease residency at Cincinnati Eye Institute, he practiced for five years at a specialty cornea, glaucoma and cataract clinic in his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Phelps is passionate about providing the highest quality eye care and education to his patients. Dr. Phelps’s special interests include pre and postoperative care, dry eye therapies, keratoconus, and scleral contact lenses.
