From an early age, Dr. Derek was always interested in being outside, playing sports, and staying active. Unfortunately, like most people at some point in their lives, his activity was slowed down significantly when he began experiencing excruciating back pain. To make it even worse, the spinal pain radiated down his leg and into his foot. He feared he would never again be able to enjoy the freedom of being a kid. His first spinal issues lasted about six months before finally resolving through physical therapy and rehabilitation. A few years later, Dr. Derek was a senior in high school, captain of his basketball team, and about to take on the number-one ranked team in the state. Out of nowhere, an all-too-familiar sensation reappeared: the stabbing, unrelenting, radiating spinal pain. This time he knew he did not have six months to recover. Luckily, his head coach knew the best place to send him. Dr. Derek started seeing a local chiropractor the next day. After a thorough chiropractic examination, the doctor determined the cause of the spinal pain and solutions to help fix his problem.
