“Dr Bamji is kind, empathetic, and extremely patient. I have been seeing him for many years and he has helped get me through the isolation of the pandemic, the aftermath of an abusive relationship, and that horrible period of torture questioning the decision to have my fur babies put to sleep (even though several vets saw each one and told me I was time IYKYK), His sense of humor is a godsend, as we can laugh about the entertainment factor of my quirks *so I never feel judged*. Therefore, I am not afraid to bring any problem to him (i.e. occasional intrusive thoughts during periods of high stress that terrify me, but he assures me I won’t act on them (I never do but I need a professional to assure me)’and that makes the thoughts stop immediately. I have been prescribed the right combination of medications and adjusting/adding when something traumatic has occurred. Absolutely would and have recommend/ed.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a results-oriented adult psychiatrist in private practice, based in Whitestone, Queens, NY. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and evidence-based treatment for adults seeking clarity, stability, and meaningful improvement in their emotional and daily functioning. My practice offers both in-office appointments and secure virtual visits—by video or telephone—for patients residing in any state across the United States. This flexibility allows individuals to receive consistent, high-quality care regardless of location, schedule, or mobility needs. My clinical approach is grounded in accuracy, collaboration, and respect. I take time to understand each patient’s history, strengths, and goals, and I work closely with them to develop a treatment plan that is both effective and sustainable. Whether addressing mood disorders (depression or mania), anxiety disorders including ,OCD, attention-related challenges (ADHD), life transitions, dementia with or without agitation or complex diagnostic questions, I focus on practical strategies that support measurable, lasting change. Patients often describe my style as direct yet supportive, structured yet personal. I believe that meaningful progress happens when clinical expertise is paired with a therapeutic relationship built on trust, clarity, and open communication. My goal is to help each individual move toward greater stability, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My patients typically expect a professional yet supportive experience focused on comprehensive evaluation and collaborative care. The first visit typically lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. I usually aim to understand the whole person and not just a set of symptoms. Comprehensive Assessment : I ask the patient to discuss their current symptoms, their duration , and how they impact their daily life. I also ask about their medical history and any past psychiatric history and their family's mental health history. Physical Baseline: If indicated, I will take vitals such as blood pressure and weight to establish a baseline before starting any treatments Collaborative Care : By the end of the session, I explain my my preliminary findings and work with the patient to develop a treatment plan. This may include medications, therapy referrals or lifestyle changes. Follow-up Appointments: once treatment begins,follow-up visits are usually shorter, often lasting 15 to 20 minutes. During these sessions I usually am an active listener so that the patient feels heard and valued. I aim to provide a safe space where where the patient can share sensitive information without fear of criticism. I explain the diagnoses and treatment options in everyday language and answer all the questions that the patient or their family may have. And lastly, I try to involve the patient in the decision-making process rather than simply dictating a plan.n
