Very disengaged doctor. I picked him based on his experience and all the great reviews. Went for a skin exam -I have history of mole removals, melanomas etc. nurse told me that I can stay in my stockings and don’t have to undress . (?) I repeated why I was there and that i needed doctor to look at all my moles and overall skin on my whole body. Dr. Altchek just looked at my body in less than a 5 minutes, I told me I was okay. No in depth conversation. I had concerns about 1 mole, he said I was fine. (I hope he was right but to be honest, I’ll be seeking another dermatologist as dr.Altchek did not earn my trust as a specialist). He then examine my 8 mo old son whom we brought to due to some change on his cheek. We told Dr.Altchek that we used cetaphil on him and cortisol for about two week and cortisol seems to help. Dr. advices to stop the cortisol and that we I’ll give us better ointment. As we were leaving the nurse gave us a small tube of aquaphor as that special ointment. (We told Dr.Altchek that Aquaphor wasn’t working on our son). I really do not understand the disengagement of this doctor. We were the only patients there that morning test had to wait over 30min before they called us in. Seems like everything about that visit was strange. Very dated office as well. We won’t be going back because I just simply do not trust this doctor experience.

Dr Altchek was great! I came for a cortisone injection in a cyst that formed a day before an interview andhe also extracted it. He was wonderful! Highly recommend him.

I would consider him one of the best in the city. I came to him with a worrisome problem and left with a solution and weight off my shoulders. As someone who has previous experience in the medical/derm field, I greatly respect his knowledge and experience.

Patient doctor, but prescribed me a solution from his own set of dermatological products (from his line) which I found to be a little annoying.

He had another appointment scheduled at the same time so proceeded to rush through mine, and after a brief description of my (lack of) progress with the prescription he provided me from my previous visit, he issued me a new prescriptionand sent me off. I was in and out of his office in about 10 minutes.

Dr. Altchek has a pleasant bedside manner and was thorough with his questions, but I felt that his personal line of skin care products was his main recommendation. I don't have major skincare issues other than aging, but was looking forsomething more helpful than his own line of skin care.

Dr. Altchek is one of the best physicians I've ever been to. I'm a MD myself, so I think I'm often even more critical than most patients. He's knowledge is up to date, he's very respectful, professional, empathetic and just anice person on top of his professionalism. His approach to my problem was very reasonable and practical, he described exactly how to use the prescribed therapy and left enough time for additional questions and concerns.

Dr. Altchek saw me in a timely manner, and gave me a very thorough examination and diagnosis for my skin condition. However, I was appalled when he brought up very sensitive political topics during my examination! Even during an election year,it feels very unprofessional and uncomfortable to have a political discussion forced upon you during a doctor's appointment (when you're meeting for the first time!) Overall, Dr. Altchek is a very knowledgeable doctor, but based on his bedside manner, I would not seek out his services again.

Dr. seemed nice and knowledgeable checked out areas of concern and produced quick diagnosis and treatment options. suggested use of cleanser which turned out to be a proprietary product - i bought it, but wonder why Dr. didn't talk about hisproduct line and just assumed i would purchase it because of "need". otherwise staff and office nice and clean.

Like other reviewers have said, it's a very rushed process when you see him, so you don't really get the sense he's got a full understanding of what your problem is. But he is an experienced doctor so I'll give himthe benefit of the doubt that he knew what was happening without me having to say much. I went in for acne, he asked some general questions that could lead to it. Ended up leaving with a prescription, but he also pushed his self branded OTC products onto me, which felt really unprofessional. Understandably this is an UES dermatologist, so patients have the disposable income to be spending on such products. I ended up seeing another dermatologist after seeing him (who affirmed Dr. Altchek's prescription and added something else) and never went back.

I have seen Dr. Altchek for several times, but on the last visit he kept me waited for some time although it was early and no other patients were present. He came to see me and he was not very attentiveand just basically rushed me out with a prescription, which doesn't help with my condition. Understandably he had something on his mind.

Worst dermatologist ever! Spends less than 1 minute with you and he has 0 professionalism. The worst mistake I ever did is let this person touch my face. I wish someone would have told me before to stay away from him.Totally ruined my face!!!! Such a shame...there is so many good doctors in Manhattan with better cvs and professionalism. I wish I knew before...Never recommend him to anyone.

Dr Altchek was very disinterested and just seemed to want me in and out as soon as possible. He barely asked any questions, wrote a prescription and told me to visit him again in a few weeks. My meeting with himwas under 2 minutes and don't feel like he cared much at all. Would be hesitant to recommend to others.

Doctor provided a very concise explanation, and had to ask afew follow-ups before I understood everything completely. Overall, doctor was very knowledgeable and pleasant.
