Dr. Elizabeth Yates, OD

Optometrist

Professional statement

You could visit a "big-box" chain to purchase your eyewear but you won't get the personal service that you can get at Normandy Optical. After beginning an optometry career as a low-vision and contact lens specialist at Kresge Eye Institute, Dr. Yates earned a reputation for a willingness to take on difficult cases. With a range of experiences including work at the Detroit Veterans hospital, Dr. Yates successfully treated patients in medical need of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses for diseases like keratoconus. Because of this success in an otherwise difficult field of study and the friendships formed with patients after years of reliable service, Dr. Yates became a known specialist in every contact lens fitting type including post-graft, post-refractive, prosthetic, multifocal and irregular astigmatism.

I felt good. She spent good amount of time to examine my kid.

This was a really great visit - it exceeded my expectations. Now I finally have a go-to optomitrist/eyeglass clinic, and five minutes from home. The exam was thorough, professional, and fun (Dr. Yates is very personable and had 2 externs fromFarris State working on me, so I had a team of 3 examining my eyes). I asked a lot of questions, "What is that for?", "What are you doing now", and they were very informative and willing to chat. They have all the latest technology, a computer that reads your eyes and figures out your prescription (which they check/fine tune in the traditional way, afterward), and no more puff of wind on your eyeball (they have a different machine that does this test). And then, possibly the best part, is Rachel. She has 15 years experience, at this location, and will help you choose glasses (which she thinks is incredibly important (for fit), and fun), and she knows all the ins & outs of options and insurance. I can't recommend them enough!
