About Dr. Flavia Theil
Dr. Theil is a board certified gynecologist and is bilingual in English and Portuguese. She is also fluent in Spanish. She began her medical education in her native Brazil at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 1996, where she graduated with honors.
She then completed her residency in OBGYN and fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Instituto Fernandes Figueira in 2005.
She relocated to New York City in 2008 to attend Lenox Hill Hospital for her second residency in the department of OBGYN and was named chief resident in her final year. She was awarded the Compassionate Resident Award, Best Research Award and Mentor of the Year Award.
Dr. Theil treats a variety conditions related to women’s health, including early pregnancy detection, abnormal pap smears/colposcopy, contraception, irregular menstruation, menopause, fibroids, sexually transmitted diseases and pelvic pain, among many others.
She’s a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been also recognized by her peers with election into New York Magazine's Top Doctors and New York Superdoctors.
