About Dr. Francisco Gelpi-Hammerschmidt
Dr. Gelpi joins Houston Metro Urology from Harvard University, where he completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology.
He specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures concerning the treatment of malignant genitourinary diseases such as cancer of the prostate, bladder, and other urologic tissue. Minimally invasive surgery refers to the approach of treatment that requires small to no incision relative to what is traditionally used in open surgery, while yielding comparable results. Using these minimally invasive techniques along with the latest in medical technology, Dr. Gelpi is able to greatly reduce patient discomfort post surgery and insure a more rapid recovery time.
He has published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals, presented at multiple regional/national meetings, and received many awards for his works. His passion for medical advances is only surpassed by the well being and care for his patients.

I have seen Dr Gelpi multiple times and he is one of the most down-to-earth and professional doctors I have seen in Houston. He is a great listener and explains things thoroughly, taking plenty of time to communicate and address concerns. The wait can get a little long but the office staff and nurses are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend him and this office.

Very happy with this visit. Dr Gelpi took the time to listen to my concerns and was able to offer thorough explanations and suggestions. Apart from that, he was a genuine person and had a really great bedside manner. The wait was a little long for being so early in the morning but I understand and the nurses/office staff were very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this office/doctor.

Doctor was excellent!!! On the other hand answering service is horrible. This young lady hung me up several times and one time never came back to the phone. They are just flat out rude...
Only other problem, my prescriptions weren’t sent to my pharmacy so I was in pain the entire night and next day.

Dr. Gelpi (Heppi) Had great bedside manner, He took his time and asked a ton of questions to try and figure out what was the cause of the issue. The staff is also great! I will be a repeat patient. (The only down side is the Wait time is ridiculous. If they get that figured out it would be great. If not I will start looking else where.
