“I’ve been seeing Dr Checo for just over a year now. I was under the care of a psychiatrist in Texas for nearly 20 years before moving to Virginia a little over a year ago, and have to say I feel fortunate to have found Dr Checo so quickly. We meshed immediately! She is excellent at listening and advising, and prescribing the medication I need at my age! She had me weaned off an anxiety med I’d been on for years and I’ve had no ill effects from going off it. Excellent psychiatrist!!”

She completed her psychiatry residency training at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, MA and a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Dr.Checo completed a fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. She provides psychiatric medication management for adults 30 years and older, and treats a range of conditions including mood disorders (such as depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (such as OCD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias), ADHD, trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychotic disorders. Dr.Checo also specializes in treating behavioral disturbances associated with major neurocognitive disorders, more commonly known as dementia. Dr.Checo is a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP). Dr. Checo is bilingual, and speaks Spanish with native fluency.

I've finally found a Psychiatrist, Dr. Frinette Checo, with whom I feel a genuine connection. Her concern for my happiness and well-being is readily apparent and gives me great comfort. She challenges my feelings of worthlessness and self hatred. My visits are virtual, which I really appreciate. I'm never rushed, all of my questions and concerns are always addressed. My meds are always reviewed as well as my safety plan. Everyone at LifeStance Health is kind and compassionate. I'm just sorry it's taken me far too many years to find LifeStance and Dr. Checo.
