Dr. Hayes has also worked in college mental health for the past 16 years. His areas of clinical interest include adjustment and relationship concerns, the "art" of meaning-making and building resilience, multicultural issues, enhancing self-esteem and identity exploration as well as specific work with underserved populations including the deaf and hard of hearing. His goal as a clinician is to assist all individuals in developing a healthy lifestyle and effectively managing conflict and stress. He believes that lasting change comes from self-awareness and self-compassion which is enhanced through a collaborative therapeutic work relationship that promotes empowerment and respects self-determination.
