Dr. Sternheim treats a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral problems, relationship and family concerns, parenting difficulties, school-related issues, identity development, and life transitions. Dr. Sternheim strives to foster a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment through humor, empathy, and compassion, allowing clients to feel safe exploring their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship, she helps clients identify patterns of relating to themselves and others to develop more effective ways of coping with emotional and interpersonal distress. She has particular interests in working with children and caregivers to improve family communication, connection, and regulation, as well as supporting older teens and young adults through life transitions and identity development. Dr. Sternheim earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s in School Psychology from Yeshiva University. She completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining MindWell NYC as a postdoctoral fellow, she trained as a predoctoral intern at Elmhurst Hospital Center/Mt. Sinai Services, working extensively with children, adolescents, adults, and families with trauma-related disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and serious mental illness..
