About Gretchen Genato

Hi, I’m Gretchen — a double board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for teens and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood challenges. My goal is simple: to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported. I believe mental health care should feel collaborative and empowering — not rushed or impersonal. Whether you're seeking clarity, medication support, or a fresh start, I’m here to meet you where you are. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I take time to understand the full picture — not just symptoms, but your lifestyle, stressors, identity, and goals. I combine thoughtful medication management with supportive, practical therapy, and together we create a plan that fits your real life. I commonly work with adult ADHD (including late diagnosis), anxiety and overthinking, depression and burnout, trauma-related concerns, and mood stability. I strive to use medications carefully and collaboratively, with a focus on effectiveness and minimizing side effects. I proudly provide LGBTQ+ affirming care and welcome patients of all identities and backgrounds. You can expect a respectful, nonjudgmental environment where you are free to be yourself. Patients often describe me as approachable, validating, and easy to talk to. Visits are conversational and supportive — you don’t need to have everything figured out before coming in. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and more confident in your path forward.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Gretchen. She is incredibly caring, reliable, and knowledgeable. She is always responsive whenever I need help and truly goes above and beyond for her patients. I feel completely supported and in great hands. Highly recommend!!
Gretchen has been absolutely wonderful to work with. She is incredibly kind, compassionate, patient, and truly takes the time to listen and understand. She has helped my husband tremendously, and we’ve seen such a positive difference since he began working with her. We are so grateful for the support and guidance she has provided, not only to him but to us as a family as well. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and the work she does. We feel very fortunate to have found Gretchen and would highly recommend her and her practice to anyone looking for a caring and supportive therapist.
Gretchen has been nothing short of amazing. She has accommodated our hectic schedule by making herself available at the weirdest of hours and is solution oriented. She’s helped guide us through or crazy health insurance situation has been amazing with her support. We look forward to continuing to work with her thank you Gretchen.
Gretchen is absolutely the best NP! She genuinely listens to your needs and makes you feel like she actually cares about you as a person.. because she does!! The very first time I reached out to her, she went out of her way to make time for me late at night just to make sure I was taken care of. I’ve always felt heard and comfortable with her, and I’m so grateful to have found a provider who truly cares about her patients. I can’t recommend her enough. Even when I had to switch insurances, she was worth paying out of pocket for.
Dr. Genato is excellent. I’ve never felt more comfortable and listened to by a doctor. She goes above and beyond with communication and taking care of her patients.
I cannot say enough good things about the nurse practitioner. From the moment the appointment started, she made me feel comfortable and at ease. Instead of a typical, clinical intake, our conversation felt incredibly natural. She asked thoughtful questions without a hint of judgment or accusation. For the first time in a long time, I felt genuinely listened to by a medical provider.
I can’t express enough how appreciative I am of Gretchen! I’ve struggled with mental health for a long time, including severe issues from my time as an infantryman in the Army, which were misdiagnosed by the VA. 20 years and several mental health providers later, I found Gretchen. She understands the monster that is poor mental health and knows no two days will bring the same version of me. She knows how vulnerable I am asking for help and how overwhelming this process can be; the anxiety before appointments sometimes reaches the point of not wanting to continue. I don’t know how she does it, but she puts me at ease every time… to the point where I can be 100% truthful about the internal demons that haunt me. After two decades of feeling less than worthy of life, I finally feel hopeful again. That’s a beautiful thing for an old, grumpy war vet like me. For anyone terrified or anxious about getting help for fear of revisiting the past… please take the leap. Gretchen is your person!
