This is the first doctor I’ve been to that actually apologized for running late. He genuinely took his time without rushing me through to get another person in. He didn’t just focus on my physical health but also asked about my mental health. Everything about this visit was refreshing. It was shocking to find a doctor in Jersey City that didn’t just treat me like another one of the cattle. He treated me like an individual and genuinely cared about my entire well being. I went in for severe joint pain and came out knowing confidently that we would figure this all out without just throwing an opioid in my direction and calling it “good.” Diagnoses and care takes time. Most doctors in the area don’t take the time.

I was treated by his sister , everytyworked out good but its been more than a week i haven’t received my reports yet. Also the girl who took my blood sample seemed amateur. Her hands were shivering and she had to call upon another one of the staffs to take the sample again because she messes up the first time.

It was a great visit and he has a great bedside manner, however it appears that he mainly treats geriatric patients (or at least specializes therein) which was a bit of a surprise. He also had his office perform an EKG which seemed excessive.

Staff is always nice. Dr. Chinai saw me right away even though I was (very) early for my appointment. Was in and out of the doctor's office and was feeling better the very next day.

Dr. Galstian was friendly, (funny!), knowledgeable, and made a point of asking if I had any questions or if I needed clarification. She will definitely be my new PCP as the entire staff was fabulous, as well!

Jersey City Primary Care Doctors

Primary care physicians, commonly known as PCPs, are trained in providing the first point of care for people with undiagnosed health issues not limited to any one organ or specialty. They are trained in health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, patient education and management of both acute and chronic illnesses. Often, they collaborate with another specialist by way of referrals and consultations to provide care to patients. They tend to encourage effective communication with their patients to make them partners in their health management. They can either hold a doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO) degree as their medical degrees, and they usually pursue a postgraduate residency in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics or gynecology.

Internist vs. family physician

  • Both internists and family physicians are responsible for providing primary care to their patients, however, there are some crucial differences between these two types of doctors. Knowing this distinction can help you choose the right doctor for your healthcare needs.
  • A key differentiator between the two is the type of patients both doctors choose to see. Internists tend to focus on diseases affecting adults, while a family physician is skilled at addressing issues faced by all of your family members, including children.
  • Another difference is in the duties that both of these types of practitioners carry out. Though not a rule, generally internists tend to focus on issues having greater complexity when compared to family physicians. While internists provide in-patient care in hospital settings or their clinics, family physicians are more likely to focus on preventative care.
