I attended West Virginia University School of Medicine, where I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree, and completed my residency training in Psychiatry at West Virginia University. I am passionate about improving the lives of patients with mental illness through a combination of medication management and brief psychotherapy interventions. I practice Psychiatry using an integrative approach that includes coordination with other doctors, strengthening social supports, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. I have experience treating the following illnesses: - Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder) - Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, etc.) - Psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder) - Perinatal disorders (pregnancy counseling regarding medications, treatment of mental illness during pregnancy, postpartum depression) - Trauma-related disorders (including post-traumatic stress disorder) - Obsessive-compulsive disorder - Eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder) - Women's mental health (mental illness worsened or caused by hormonal fluctuations, domestic abuse) - Neurocognitive disorders (dementias) - Mental illness related to developmental disabilities (autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD) New patient visits typically last for an hour. During this time, I will hear your concerns, obtain a history to establish a timeline of symptoms, and work with you to develop a plan of care. During follow-up appointments (typically 30 minutes in length), we will review your response to treatment and make adjustments as needed.
