First and aonly time I have seen Dr. Sommers. - I was a patient of Dr. Bernstein and this was a follow up. Radiology is the bottle neck for these visits; you have to change out of your clothes for a leg X-ray and they are usually backed up, as well.
I wish the doctors would discuss in more detail their findings regarding any joint changes they note, etc. I would like them to go over the X-rays with me. I have a strong medical background, I’m a CVT with 15 yrs experience. I always ask for more information but I’m seldom given the level of detail that I’m looking for.
I would highly recommend Loyola for anyone who needs orthopedic care.

Dr Summers is an important excellent surgeon. He also has a very fine bedside manner because he listens carefully, answers questions, and gives hope.

For 31 years I have suffered with pain, every doctor I went to blamed it on my scoliosis. They would send me to physical therapy that made my pain worse. Dr. Summers listen to my problems and sent me to get x-rays, he discovered I have hip dysphasia. He referred me to a doctor that can operate on me. I will always be grateful he took time to look for something else and not just say it’s probably your scoliosis and send me away.

My visit was very satisfying. After taking X-rays I was seen by a resident who asked pertinent questions. Shortly thereafter Dr Summers came in and asked the relevant questions re: pain level activity etc. , gave me his diagnosis that all was going well and dismissed me with the caveat that if I have any difficulty, call him. I waited a short time to see the doctor and the visit was productive. I would recommend Dr. Summer's to anyone. He is very professional, knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner.
