About Dr. Idil Bilgin
Dr. Bilgin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. She completed a residency in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at the SUNY College of Optometry and went on to serve as a member of the faculty at the SUNY College of Optometry for seven years, followed by approximately two years on faculty at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. Dr. Bilgin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She was also the Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Vision Screening Program in NYC for 3 years.
Prior to joining NJ Eye and Ear, Dr. Bilgin practiced for nearly 20 years in a prominent Pediatric Ophthalmology practice in New York City. She provides comprehensive examinations for adult and pediatric patients, specialty contact lens fittings, vision therapy and myopia management and prevention. Dr. Bilgin is experienced and comfortable working with patients with special needs and diverse abilities. She is fluent in Turkish and is proficient in medical Spanish.

Took off work to attend my annual eye exam, just for them to tell me that my booking was incorrectly cancelled because of issues with their call center? Was not notified before hand or made aware of this issue until I arrived to their office. Could not accommodate me and the manager could not bother to give me a call to confirm there was no availability or wiggle room for today.

I was very lucky that Dr. Bilgen was available on a Saturday. She diagnosed the problem and I was able to pick up my eye drops that same day. She was thoughtful and caring.
