About Dr. Irvin Guterman
Dr. Irvin Guterman has been a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Greater Washington Orthopedic Group in the DC area for the last 26 years. He specializes in general orthopaedics, sports medicine, total joint replacement surgeries, and injuries from work or motor vehicle accidents, as well as providing comprehensive and state of the art treatments for all knee conditions. His philosophy as a physician is to provide compassionate care, listen and understand the patient's needs, and formulate a personalized treatment plan for each patient, whether non-operative or operative, for complete restorative health.
He graduated from The George Washington University and obtained his MD degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Guterman obtained his General Surgery training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Rutgers Medical School. He then completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Research fellowship studying bone and joint abnormalities. This research resulted in several presentations, awards and publications. He received his Orthopedic Surgery training at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA., where he concentrated on total joint replacement, trauma, back and sports injuries. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery training as Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery in 1990.
He is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, President of the Greater Washington Orthopaedic Group and CEO of the Piccard Surgery Center. As an avid runner, cyclist and athlete, Dr. Guterman is particularly interested in the prevention and treatment of sports related injuries as well as how exercise plays a pivotal role in health and well-being.

Came in for Elbow Bursitis. Dr. Guterman was very attentive, informative and helpful. Only drawback was the wait time was about an hour before being seen even though I had an appt. However, once seen I was out fairly quickly. One critical note of the Zocdoc app is booking an appt while office is closed allows you to book appt times that are already taken and cannot be confirmed until next business day. This has happened to me repeatedly on this app including this time. Fortunately their office was able to fit me in same day just later which was appreciated.
