About Dr. Itsuka Kurihara
Dr. Itsuka "Samantha" Kurihara joined Downtown Women in June of 2024. She is trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including robotics, laparoscopic and vaginal surgeries. She has a strong interest in family planning and reproductive health and is especially excited to be working with younger women and their contraceptive needs.
Dr. Kurihara grew up in Bronxville, NY. She graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and then attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in 2022 at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in OBGYN in Livingston, New Jersey where she was an administrative chief resident. She practiced in North Jersey prior to making her way to New York City.

Her bedside table manners were great, she was super friendly and communicative, and I was extremely comfortable the entire session despite being a little nervous going in. They had me in and out in just a few minutes and I would definitely recommend Dr. Kurihara!

Dr. Kurihara was so great! I've never had an OBGYN show that much care. And I loved how they not only ask about medical history, but also any previous experience with SA/Violence so that they can be sensitive to any possible triggers. It was a quick, easy and pleasant visit!

Very personable staff, great vibes, facilities are convenient. They forgot to book an ultrasound for me but found an available room right away. In other places I would have to wait for weeks to get that appointment.
