About Dr. Jack Cossman
Jack Cossman, MD is a board-certified dermatologist who enjoys meeting and treating patients of all ages and skin types. In particular, Dr. Cossman treats acne and acne scarring, hair loss and hair removal, psoriasis, skin cancers, warts, as well as facial aesthetics with neurotoxins, fillers, chemical peels, and lasers.
Dr. Cossman trained almost entirely in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Brown University, earning both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree. His internship was at Yale New Haven Hospital, and then he returned to Providence for his dermatology training. Dr. Cossman has practiced primarily with UWS Dermatology since 2018 and also in California.
In addition to seeing patients physically in Manhattan, Dr. Cossman can offer virtual care to patients anywhere in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
While he dedicates much of his time to caring for his patients, Dr. Cossman loves to go hiking, cycling, and traveling. I went to this doctor because I regularly get underarm Botox for medical reasons and had recently moved to this city, so I needed a new dermatologist. The doctor told me they don’t handle this treatment because it’s “too complicated” to deal with insurance. I also asked for help with a skin issue I was having (irritation and dryness), but I didn’t receive any useful help. It felt like the focus was only on cosmetic procedures like fillers and Botox. If you have an actual skin condition, I wouldn’t recommend this doctor at all.

My appointment never happened. I received a text message from Zocdoc that the provider's office will email me video link for my appointment which I never received. When I tried calling the office, they were closed. I waited for 45 minutes after my scheduled time in case the provider would call me facetime or directly to my phone, but I never received any calls, no follow up text messages or emails from the office as of 11:12am today.

I booked a follow up appointment today because I have limited options where I live. He accused of lying in my 1-star review so I’ll be clear.
Just because you practice in 26 states, does not mean you should not be aware of the standard practices of electrologists in those states. Do better or don’t brag. Or don’t practice in so many states so your patients can have a better standard of care. Use a better practice management system.
I expected you to listen to my answer on electrolysis in NYS or look it up, not argue with me. I am a scientist, I play dumb because I don’t want to step on the toes of my doctor.
You told me that if I wanted to “maintain my rapport” to continue to be seen by you I should “take down my review”, and I was being nice when I told you I would.
Your ego is too much, and I won’t be bullied by a Dr who obviously needs to learn this valuable lesson:
I like my doctors who are advocates, but not at the expense of their patient. Do better. No I will not be back.

It was a last minute first time appointment for a skin issue so I understand that there is nuance, but I have been looking for a dermatologist for quite some time, I told him I had PCOS, and that part of my issue is needing numbing cream for electrolysis. He asked me to ask the doctor supervising my electrolysis technician. In NYS electrolysis does not have to be performed in a medical office, which is why I asked. It always makes me feel weird when a doctor is uninformed so I hope this review provides clarity.

Holy bad service. First off if you’re a new patient they’ll ask you to fill out 10+ online forms prior to a video call or they won’t see you. Who has the time for this? I’ve never been to a doctor with SO many forms. I would have rather cancel than go through that. Why would I book a video call then if I had to fill out a million forms?

I had a wonderful experience at Doctor Cossman’s office. I was seen quickly and Doctor Cossman was very knowledgeable and communicated instructions very well. He took my condition seriously and was available to offer long term solutions for my eczema.

Dr Cossman is a fantastic dermatologist! He is very informative, personable and professional. He is thorough when conducting a full body skin screening for skin cancer and answers any questions you might have about taking care of your skin. He also makes suggestions about good and effective skin care practices. He is a pleasure to have as my dermatologist. I cannot recommend him highly enough and I will continue to see him every 6 months.
