Dr. Jacob Miller was raised on a ranch near Elko, Nevada, and spent much of his time on horseback, either working as a cowboy or competing in rodeo. He completed a bachelor's degree in microbiology from Colorado State University and a medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha. His training took him to Greeley and the North Colorado Family Medicine Residency, followed by a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Dr. Miller practiced for eight years in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he served as head team physician of Northern State University and four area high schools. He then transitioned to Intermountain Health and is excited to be back to his Western roots. Dr. Miller offers the most current and advanced practices in non-operative sports medicine and athlete medical care while maintaining a patient-centered approach. His clinical interests include exercise prescription, bone health, athlete mental health, concussion, and musculoskeletal pain and injury. He is passionate about education and research, serving as a Clinical Associate Professor for the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and conducting studies in rodeo injury, concussion management, and student-athlete wellbeing. Outside of medical practice, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, acting, and writing. His philosophy of care is to work collaboratively with patients to maximize their potential in health and life.
