Dr. Jacqueline Koo, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified ophthalmologist who comes to Peninsula Eye Physicians with fellowship training in corneal diseases, refractive surgery and glaucoma. Dr. Koo has been practicing ophthalmology for over 15 years and has been with Peninsula Eye Physicians since 2007. A Bay Area native, she was a National Merit Semi-Finalist at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto. She graduated with high honors in Biological Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Koo also received a Masters of Public Health in epidemiology/biostatistics from the University of California at Berkeley. She attended Boston University School of Medicine where she graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class. Dr. Koo completed her ophthalmology residency at the Boston University Medical Center/Gunderson Eye Center where she was chief resident. Following residency, she was accepted to one of the top ophthalmology fellowships in the country, where she trained with Dr. Richard Lindstrom, M.D. Dr. Koo has extensive eye surgical experience and has participated in FDA trials of the newest eye technologies. She continues to lecture about ophthalmology. Dr. Koo is an author of “Office Ophthalmic Procedures” a popular handbook for ophthalmologists. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the San Mateo County Medical Society. Dr. Koo is the current Chair of Ophthalmology at the Mill-Peninsula Hospital and has been chair for the past 6 years. She is married to Dr. Edward Sun M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, and they live on the Peninsula with their two children. They enjoy watching their kids play baseball. Dr. Koo was named Bay Area's Best Doctor in 2019 and 2020 by San Francisco Magazine.
