Hi there, I'm Jacquie!
My name is Jacquie Josephson, PsyD (PSY24070), and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, San Francisco Bay Area. I provide psychotherapy with a client-centered approach, meaning that my work is a collaborative process where my clients' expressed goals guide their treatment. I work with individuals who struggle with symptoms related to depression, anxiety, and trauma, including self-esteem issues, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and substance abuse.
My approach
I utilize several therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, relational, EMDR, internal family systems, somatic, and mindfulness. I find that understanding an individual's background is an important part of grasping their current struggles, while also focusing on their strengths and coping strategies. This helps individuals get to know themselves better and facilitates growth.
My focus
I work best with individuals who are motivated and have some ability to self-reflect. I am comfortable treating people who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, decreased self-esteem, loneliness, substance abuse, and those feeling lost and wanting to reconnect with themselves and their lives in a more meaningful and engaged way.
My communication style
My intention is to create a safe place for individuals to slow down and take a closer look at what is causing pain and struggle in their lives. I find it helpful to ask questions about the individual and their history to gain a clear understanding of how they found themselves in this place, then ask clarifying questions along the way. My communication style is largely inquisitive and includes more directive elements when necessary or requested. I want to create a space where individuals feel comfortable exploring their internal landscape and emotions.
