About Dr. James Smith

With sights set on becoming an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Smith was preparing to go to medical school. While playing football at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia, he sustained a football injury. Dr. Smith sought the help of a local chiropractor. “As he was describing the nature of the injury, it made a lot of sense to me.” Dr. Smith made significant progress while he was under chiropractic care. That’s when he realized that becoming a chiropractor would be his life’s work. After completing his undergrad studies, Dr. Smith attended Life University in Marietta, Georgia. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1993. Dr. Smith stayed on at Life for two years and taught some radiology classes. He also practiced part-time at a clinic that was provided for the Life faculty. When he’s not in the office, Dr. Smith loves spending time with his beautiful wife, Jacqui, who also grew up in Virginia Beach. They have three adult children between them-two daughters and a son. Dr. Smith loves to surf and be in the water. He and Jackie are also involved in their church.
