About Dr. Javier Vizoso
Dr. Vizoso was born in Havana, Cuba and exiled to the United States as an infant. He then grew up between Puerto Rico and Venezuela until he left for college in the northeastern United States. He received his bachelors’ degree with honors from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and his medical degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut where he was inducted as an AOA member. Dr. Vizoso then moved to California where he completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California San Diego Medical Center.
Dr. Vizoso moved to Miami in 1989 to join Dr. Hirsch and the group that is now South Miami OB-GYN Associates. He has been chosen to the Castle Connelly guide to “Top Doctors Across America” since 2002 and to the “Best Doctors” in Obstetrics and Gynecology guide since 2005.
Dr. Vizoso is past chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at South Miami and Baptist Hospitals. He loves his clinical practice and enjoys his relationship with his patients for the past 20 plus years. He also has a passion for Performance Improvement and IT in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been active in numerous hospital, organizational and national committees in this area. He has also volunteered at Camillus House and has been an active volunteer physician at Liga Contra el Cancer since 1994.
Dr. Vizoso is married and has two daughters. He enjoys spending time and traveling with his family. He also loves to play tennis and golf and is an avid Miami Dolphins football fan.
Dr. Vizoso is grateful to his patients that have followed him through the years. He also welcomes new patients to enjoy the personalized women’s healthcare that he, his partners and the staff at South Miami OB-GYN Associates are proud to deliver.

Great experience. This has been my OB-GYN provider for many years since I became a mother 28 years ago. I have tried not to download the app (I am better off calling on the phone and having the office make the reservation for my appointment with Dr. Vizoso and this is the best way for me to make the appointments. Nowadays, every company, restaurant, parking lots and Doctors prefer for patients to download apps. I prefer to call and get the appointment done on the phone. Dr. Vizoso and his group of doctors are Top, A+ care doctors.

Dr. Vizoso is thorough, kind, gentle and caring. He asked me a question about my previous mammogram and then said (and did followup) "I'll check your chart before writing a prescription for writing your new mammogram script". He also inquires about the health and well-being of my daughter, who he brought into this world 13 years ago (by name) each time i have an appointment, and also makes sure to ask how my husband is doing too... He not only asks how I am feeling and if I have any other symptoms, feelings, concerns or apprehensions about my health and well-being but also encourages me to reach out to my head doctor about some other vaccination questions. Dr. Vizoso always makes me feel listened to, never condescending... instead he makes me feel like a partner in my health journey and he also makes me feel well cared for as a patient. I would recommend Dr. Vizoso to other women for ob/gyn medical care without any reservation.
