About Dr. Jeffrey Schildhorn
Jeffrey C. Schildhorn, MD is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in the treatment of all sports-related injuries as well as arthroscopic and open treatment of shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, and elbow injuries. He also performs joint replacement for arthritis of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He does not treat back or neck pain. Dr. Schildhorn has presented research and instructional lectures at numerous orthopedic conferences nationally. Additionally he has published articles on advanced procedures in arthroscopic surgery. A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Schildhorn excelled in many sports and was named athlete of the year in high school. He later graduated from Duke University with a degree in chemistry. There he was a member of both the cross country and track teams. He continued his education at Temple University School of Medicine, graduating with honors. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Dr. Schildhorn then completed his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and shoulder reconstruction at San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. He focused his specialty training on advanced arthroscopic surgery and shoulder replacement. During this time he participated in the care of athletes from the San Diego Padres and San Diego State University. Dr. Schildhorn enjoys maintaining a high level of physical fitness. His hobbies and sporting interests include surfing, golf, running, cycling, yoga and photography.

Nice guy but not punctual with his appointments. I’ve had several follow up visits with him but each time i arrived - always on time for my appointment or before it- i am seen by Dr Schildhorn between 30-60 minutes after the original time scheduled. He needs to work on improving his time management skills because the patient’s time is just as important as the doctor’s.

Dr. Schildhorn makes you feel very comfortable and cared for. I needed to have a simple procedure done, however, I was still nervous. Dr. Schildhorn’s bedside manner put me completely at ease. He’s also finds humor in things and appreciate his delivery. I highly recommend him!

Short wait, very nice office, and great doctor. Dr. Schildhorn was very friendly and took the time to listen to all of my concerns and explained everything very clearly rather than rushing through things. Also unlike some surgeons I've seen in the past who right away want to operate, he suggested a conservative approach with surgery as a last resort.

Dr. Schildhorn was very friendly. His examination of my left knee was thorough and he took time to explain his findings and the possible diagnostics in great detail. He then discussed further examination and treatment options and referred me to a MRI provider that accepts my insurance. The transparency and professionalism from the moment when I stepped into the office until I stepped out was outstanding.
I feel much happier after my visit. Dr.Schildhorn took the time to listen and understand my concerns and explained the situation with high professionalism. By the way, the place has an amazing office - very bright and modern.

Very knowledgeable; great bedside manner
Came to get my Achilles’ tendon looked at and he helped educate me that it wasn’t actually the tendon but a sprain by the tendon/muscle juncture and laid out options on how to recover. He was a good listener and it was a quick visit. I’d recommend him.

I had a 4PM appointment and showed up a few minutes early. I was greeted at the door and was asked to show proof of insurance and ID. After they made their copies, I was placed in a room. I waited about 10-15 minutes max before the doctor came in. As soon as he did, he was greeted me with a nice, big friendly smile. Within a few minutes of us talking and me telling him about the history on my knee problems, he sent me for xrays in the room next door. After reviewing the xrays, he told me his findings and what my options are. Unlike most doctors, he suggested several options before quickly opting for surgery. He set me up for an MRI next door and we will take it from there after he reviews the results. So far he recommended physical therapy
Excellent doctor and staff
Professional and friendly - took his time to explain all options in a reasonable and practical manner. Would certainly return for any further ortho needs. Also, office space feels new and bright - not always the case in NYC.
He clearly explained the most likely problem with my hurting knee and ordered an MRI to verify. He explained using a medical model and by illustrating on paper. Office staff were efficient and pleasant, space small but comfortable because well designed.

It took a while to be seen by the doctor but once I did, Dr. Schildhorn was extremely professional, offered me guidance on my situation, and thoughtfully answered all the questions I had. The staff was also very helpful, save for the detached imaging center on the lower floor, which seemed quite disorganized.

Dr Schildhorn is an amazing dedicated caring surgeon. He is passionate about helping his patients. . I had surgery on my knee and I was lucky to have him as my surgeon. I highly recommend him. He is an excellent doctor, he took his time and explained my condition so I felt comfortable. He has a great sense of humor and a friendly staff. I hit an off day where Doctor Schildhorn had to take on other doctors appointments and I ended up waiting 2.5 hours. I was annoyed, but Doctor Schildhorn's bedside manner totally made up for it. He was kind, knowledgable and was immediately apologetic.
My appointment was 4pm. I showed up to the office at 4:03PM having already completed all of my forms online. I was not brought into an exam room until 4:47 PM Doctor came into the room for the exam about 10 minutes later. Dr. Schildhorn was pleasant and knowledgeable. He explained the potential diagnosis as well as next steps for treatment and further evaluation. Aside from the wait time to get into see the doctor, everything about my experience was very good.
I went back to Dr. Schildhorn for a follow up. I was still having some pain so he gave me some other options as to I was going on vacation the next day. Very patient and thorough doctor, I highly recommend!
