“I have been seeing Jennifer for 4+ months now. She's a great listener. She is an active listener -- who not only encourages me to speak but asks relevant follow up questions and confirms her understanding. She is not afraid to point out behaviors & patterns she's recognizing. This is one of the key differentiation points Jennifer shows imo. Even when things may come out harsh, she is not afraid to point them out and can engage in conversations when I agree and also when I don't. Lastly, she's incredibly receptive to feedback. In the beginning, even the smaller adjustments were talked through (e.g., with what question each session will start) she took the feedback and actioned immediately. In other areas where I disagree with her read, she's also receptive to taking my view points and build on top. Overall, I'm very happy that I met Jennifer and we're working together.”

“Dr. Im is very professional and asks a lot of good questions. She has helped me make connections that I've never noticed with prior therapists. I wouldn't say therapy with Dr. Im is easy, but that's also how I know it's productive. It's more than just venting. Working with Dr. Im requires me to reflect, analyze, and be open about my behavior so that we're able to make progress.”

Dr. Jennifer Im, PhD is a Columbia-trained and educated licensed psychologist offering evidence-based therapy and comprehensive neurodiagnostic assessments for adults, adolescents, and children — in New York, New Jersey, Nevada, and virtually across 46 PSYPACT states. This practice offers structured, goal-driven therapy for anxiety & perfectionism, trauma & PTSD, Autism (ASD) & ADHD, self-esteem & shame, burnout & career stress, cross-cultural identity, relationships & communication, life transitions, and executive mental health. Treatment draws from CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, CPT, EFT, mindfulness, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches — every plan tailored to your specific goals, history, and identity. Comprehensive neurodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments are also available for ADHD, ASD, learning disorders, and psychological functioning — with detailed reports for diagnostic clarity, academic accommodations (IEP, 504, SAT/GRE/LSAT/MCAT), and workplace support. PhD, Columbia University. Faculty clinician, Columbia University Medical Center. Advanced psychodynamic training, Columbia Psychoanalytic Institute. Beck Institute CBT training. EMDR-certified. What should a new client know about working with you?

Areas of Clinical Focus Anxiety & Perfectionism: Targeted interventions for imposter syndrome, burnout, and the "not enough" narrative — building lasting emotional regulation and genuine self-trust. Trauma & PTSD: EMDR, CPT, and somatic approaches to process what the body has been holding and build a life no longer organized around the past. ADHD & Neurodivergence: Specialized testing and therapy for executive function, rejection sensitivity dysphoria (RSD), emotional regulation, and autistic and ADHD burnout. Interpersonal Dynamics: Refining communication, assertiveness, and firm boundaries within complex social and professional relationships. Cross-Cultural Identity & Intergenerational Trauma: Exploring how cultural conditioning, immigration, and inherited narratives shape your worldview and identity today. Executive Mental Health: A high-engagement space for leaders, founders, and high-performers navigating the weight of success. Neurodiagnostic & Psychoeducational Assessments: Comprehensive evaluations of IQ, achievement, executive function, memory, and attention — producing detailed reports for academic accommodations (IEP, 504, SAT/GRE/LSAT/MCAT) and workplace support. My clinical and personal philosophy are inseparable. I maintain 10+ years of dedicated practice in mindfulness, meditation, and yoga — not as supplemental tools, but as a lived foundation for the work I do. I believe embodying these practices is essential to showing up with presence, addressing unconscious bias, and serving every client with the highest standard of ethical, culturally attuned care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every client relationship begins with a thorough, comprehensive intake — a warm, validating space to explore how you think, feel, and move through the world. Before any intervention begins, I take the time to genuinely understand your psychological profile, history, cultural context, and the specific goals that brought you here. From there, we collaboratively design a structured treatment plan so therapy feels like a shared mission — not something being done to you, but built with you. Every plan is tailored: the modalities selected, the pace set, and the focus areas identified are all calibrated to your specific presentation and goals. I prioritize accountability and momentum. Between sessions, you will receive targeted tasks designed to translate insight into real-world progress — because lasting change happens between sessions, not just within them. Progress is tracked using gold-standard clinical assessments so we always know where you are, where you are headed, and when to recalibrate. For assessment clients, the process begins with a detailed clinical interview, followed by a comprehensive psychometric battery, a thorough scoring and analysis period, and a feedback session to walk through findings and recommendations together. Every report is individualized — a genuine clinical picture of how your mind works, with specific, actionable recommendations for school, work, and daily life. My ultimate goal is straightforward: help you feel better, understand yourself more deeply, and achieve the specific outcomes that matter most to you.

I have been in therapy with several other providers before and Dr. Im is by far the best I provider I have had. She took the time to really get to know me and my background which I really appreciated it. She is patient and willing to listen but will also help keep the conversation on track if you veer off. She is extremely knowledgeable but also pragmatic. I have learned so much and made tremendous progress in just the few months we have been working together. I couldn't recommend her enough.
I am relatively new to therapy and started seeing Dr Im a few months ago. Not only have our sessions been instrumental in helping me get out of a pretty dark place, but I’m learning how to be a better version of myself holistically. Understanding myself better has positively affected many aspects of my life and I’m really grateful to Dr Im for providing a safe space during our discussions and helping me learn more about myself without judgment. I imagine I am not the easiest person to speak with at times, though Dr Im has never made me feel that way. Thank you for your work.
I have been seeing Dr. Im for a bit less than half a year and she's been great. I think we've made some great progress in helping me realize my faults and personal issues. I'm still a work in progress but think that we've had a lot of breakthroughs and looking forward to the future sessions.
I'm a relatively new patient with Dr. Im and have been seeing her for less than half a year. She's been really great and in this short length of time, I have found out a lot about myself. During our consulation, we went over what I was hoping to achieve through therapy and any other issues I would like to work on. I'm still a work in progress but I'm definitely more aware of my faults and what I need to work on to be the best version of myself.
