“I have been seeing Jennifer for 4+ months now. She's a great listener. She is an active listener -- who not only encourages me to speak but asks relevant follow up questions and confirms her understanding. She is not afraid to point out behaviors & patterns she's recognizing. This is one of the key differentiation points Jennifer shows imo. Even when things may come out harsh, she is not afraid to point them out and can engage in conversations when I agree and also when I don't. Lastly, she's incredibly receptive to feedback. In the beginning, even the smaller adjustments were talked through (e.g., with what question each session will start) she took the feedback and actioned immediately. In other areas where I disagree with her read, she's also receptive to taking my view points and build on top. Overall, I'm very happy that I met Jennifer and we're working together.”

“Dr. Im is very professional and asks a lot of good questions. She has helped me make connections that I've never noticed with prior therapists. I wouldn't say therapy with Dr. Im is easy, but that's also how I know it's productive. It's more than just venting. Working with Dr. Im requires me to reflect, analyze, and be open about my behavior so that we're able to make progress.”

Getting to know Dr. Jennifer Im

NOTICE: Private Pay Only. I am an out-of-network provider. Virtual visits only. About Dr. Im I am a licensed Psychologist in NY, NJ, and NV. I attained my master's and doctoral degree in Psychology from Columbia University. I have a decade of clinical experience. I am extensively trained in CBT, ACT, and Mindfulness. I completed a Postdoctoral Comprehensive DBT training and Psychodynamic coursework at the Columbia Psychoanalytic Institute. I am certified in EMDR, meditation, and yoga instruction. I am a recipient of a fellowship from the National Institute of Drug Abuse and scholarship from Columbia University. I have presented at conferences at psychological associations and universities focusing on mindfulness and mental health advocacy. I helped with research at the NYS Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University. I specialize in treating anxiety and self-esteem challenges, navigating relationship dynamics, and breaking through the psychological glass ceilings that stall your professional goals. My practice is for clients seeking to transcend self-limiting beliefs and cultivate a resilient, growth-oriented mindset. I view every client through a cultural lens and a whole-person centered understanding, honoring the multiple layers of your identity to unlock your next level of success. I also conduct virtual neuropsychological assessments for those seeking formal accommodation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Areas of Clinical Focus • Anxiety & Perfectionism: Targeted interventions for Imposter Syndrome, burnout, and the "not enough" narrative to build emotional regulation. • Interpersonal Dynamics: Refining communication, assertiveness, and firm boundaries within complex social and professional hierarchies. • Executive Coaching: Deconstructing self-limiting beliefs and the scarcity mindset impeding your professional trajectory. • Cross-Cultural Intersectionality: Exploring intergenerational trauma and how cultural conditioning influences your contemporary worldview and identity. • Neuropsychological Assessment: Data-driven evaluations of IQ, academic functioning, executive function, memory, and attention. These help secure academic and professional accommodations. My Philosophy My personal and professional philosophy are seamlessly intertwined, such that I consistently work towards my own introspection and self-awareness. I have 10+ years of personal practice and teaching in meditation, mindfulness, and yoga. I apply these principles in everyday living, ultimately so that I may target and address unconscious biases and intrapersonal factors to best serve my clients with the utmost professionalism, respect, and ethical care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work begins with a detailed assessment to understand how you think, feel, and act within a validating space. We collaboratively design a structured treatment plan so therapy feels like a shared mission. I prioritize accountability and momentum. You will receive between-session tasks to translate insights into real-world progress. We track your growth using gold-standard clinical assessments to ensure you remain on track or to troubleshoot as needed. My ultimate goal is to help you feel better, become the best version of yourself, and achieve your specific therapeutic goals.

I have been in therapy with several other providers before and Dr. Im is by far the best I provider I have had. She took the time to really get to know me and my background which I really appreciated it. She is patient and willing to listen but will also help keep the conversation on track if you veer off. She is extremely knowledgeable but also pragmatic. I have learned so much and made tremendous progress in just the few months we have been working together. I couldn't recommend her enough.
I am relatively new to therapy and started seeing Dr Im a few months ago. Not only have our sessions been instrumental in helping me get out of a pretty dark place, but I’m learning how to be a better version of myself holistically. Understanding myself better has positively affected many aspects of my life and I’m really grateful to Dr Im for providing a safe space during our discussions and helping me learn more about myself without judgment. I imagine I am not the easiest person to speak with at times, though Dr Im has never made me feel that way. Thank you for your work.
I have been seeing Dr. Im for a bit less than half a year and she's been great. I think we've made some great progress in helping me realize my faults and personal issues. I'm still a work in progress but think that we've had a lot of breakthroughs and looking forward to the future sessions.
I'm a relatively new patient with Dr. Im and have been seeing her for less than half a year. She's been really great and in this short length of time, I have found out a lot about myself. During our consulation, we went over what I was hoping to achieve through therapy and any other issues I would like to work on. I'm still a work in progress but I'm definitely more aware of my faults and what I need to work on to be the best version of myself.
