About Dr. Jennifer Walker

To explain why I became a chiropractor, I like to share this story: Although I had never suffered from neck or back pain, I had chronic ear infections since childhood. I would get these infections about four times a year, often around stressful times like exams. They were usually so severe that I needed trips to the ER, antibiotics, and pain medication. Several times, the infection was so bad it ruptured my eardrum. As a young adult without health insurance, I couldn’t afford another ER visit when I developed an ear infection. So, I decided to see a chiropractor. After an examination, it was clear that the vertebrae in my neck weren’t moving properly and were compromising the nerves going to my ear. After my first adjustment, I felt the pressure begin to release. After three treatments, my ear infection was gone. I continued with active care, then corrective care, and finally strengthened the muscles supporting my spine. I have never had an ear infection since that day! When I told my mother about my experience, she said she wished someone had told her about chiropractic when I was a child. It was plain and simple: chiropractic corrected what years of medication could not. This experience gave me a concrete understanding of the impact chiropractic care can have. I think of my mom’s comment each season that my ear infections don’t return. I recognize that chiropractic didn’t cure my ear infections directly; rather, it removed the problem preventing my body from healing itself. I am thankful to help others in the same way now. I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States, which equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide this kind of care.
