Getting to know Dr. Jessica Alpizar

** Dr. Alpizar is completely out-of-network. Please book with the expectations that the provider will not be accepting insurance. ** I am a bilingual (Spanish-English) Clinical Health Psychologist with a PsyD in Clinical Health Psychology from Albizu University. As a Health Psychologist, I examine how biological, social, and psychological issues influence your overall wellbeing. In other words, I consider all of you. As a first-generation Latina, I am highly focused on how context and larger systems impact your identity, choosing interventions that match your worldviews and lived experiences. I have a powerful ability to sit with your story, no matter how painful it may be, and hold the space you need to process and heal. Having walked alongside many survivors of trauma of all kinds, I carry unshakable confidence in your ability to break through and thrive, regardless of your life story. I am passionate about the mind/body/spirituality relationship, nutritional psychology, trauma work, and human resiliency. My love for all things mental health and wellbeing led me to complete an internship at Denver Health Medical Center, where I delivered preventative, primary, and acute care services. Throughout this time, I provided psychological services to individuals suffering from chronic medical illnesses, severe eating disorders, substance use, grief and loss, gender identity issues, painful psychological trauma, and neurological conditions. Moreover, I gained additional therapeutic experience working at the Miami VA Medical Center's Behavioral Health Department, the University of Miami's Department of Neuropsychology, Baptist Medical Center's First Choice Neurology, and Oliver-Pyatt Eating Disorder Treatment Center.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therefore, I am highly focused on how context and the larger systems impact your identity; choosing interventions that match your worldviews and lived experiences. I use a combination of ACT, CBT, Mindfulness-Based, and psychoanalytic therapy. Working with me invites you to move beyond “good enough” and achieve deep lasting self-agency.

Dr. Alpizar is amazing! I felt so comfortable with her. She really is a one of a kind special human being.
My visits with Dr Alpizar were quite comforting and motivated me to be productive. She is the sweetest and most caring person I’ve ever met. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. A beautiful soul and a beautiful face. Love her energy and how real she is. Don’t hesitate to obtain an appointment, just do it.
My first session with Jessica went amazing! I can't wait for my next chat with her. l felt very comfortable talking about what has been weighing on me. Highly recommend.
Dr. Alpizar was so kind and real. It’s hard to come across someone who still keeps the humanity in the therapeutic process. I’ve been in therapy for years, and I immediately felt at ease and safe with her. Would recommend!!
Dr. Alpizar provided me with the tools and techniques that helped me get my in order and without feeling judged. I was hesitate to start this journey of self care but her approach and style made me extremely comfortable. I can genuinely say my life is better ever since I met her!
Dr. Alpizar is fantastic & I highly recommend her! She is very kind, respectful, understanding, and a clear communicator. I had a great experience as her patient.
I needed someone who could understand that I was a little jaded by the therapy experience as a 36 year old depression veteran ?? Jessica called prior to my scheduled visit to give me an idea of her approach, to let me feel her out a bit, and to answer any questions I might have before confirming I’d like to meet with her. I have terrible anxiety, so I didn’t even want to call back, but I’m glad I did. Jessica is obviously a very tender and compassionate person, but her experience seems to have given her a well-rounded nature that allows her to interact with clients on a very personal level. I needed the person I spoke to to know that I respond to some grit and tenacity; I don’t respond well to coddling through the healing process, and although she agreed that she could be that person for me, there were moments in our session where I felt her sort of let up on taking me through raw emotion to offer compassion and a need to be patient with myself. 10/10 would recommend.

I had been looking for a psychologist for my daughter for a while. We had trouble finding someone compatible, but she and Dr. Alpizar clicked right away. We had heard varying diagnosis from other doctors, but Dr. Alpizar was able to get us clearer answers and find an appropriate treatment for my daughter. We are very happy with the care she has provided.
Dr. Alpizar was able to see me shortly after I made the appointment which was wonderful because I’d been searching for a clinician who would be a good fit. She was knowledgeable, caring, and funny! I also felt comfortable opening up with her where I haven’t been in the past.
My experience with Dr. Alpizar is exactly what I was wanting in a therapist. She made me feel so comfortable and gave me amazing advice on how to deal with the issues I am going through. I would highly recommend her.
Dr. Alpizar is outstanding! If I could give her more than 5 stars -- I would! She is professional and a great listener. I am looking forward to my next appointment!
