Getting to know Dr. Joanne Marwil
I have been working as a Psychologist to impact change in my clients' lives for more than 20 years. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Illinois School of Professional Psychology. In addition, Fawn Cooney, MA, and Rachael Drapcho, LPC, work with me in my practice, Marwil & Associates, Inc. We specialize in treating adults and couples, as well as teenagers and families facing a variety of issues including mood difficulties (depression and anxiety), separation/divorce, grief and loss, and issues related to sexuality (LGBTQIA) and identity. We also help those struggling with difficult feelings such as worry, sadness, irritability, and stress.
Our therapeutic approach is holistic, integrating a variety of modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered, and body-centered therapies, depending on what style will best address our clients' needs and lead to healing.
We value the uniqueness of each client's situation and adapt our consultations and treatment options to compassionately address client needs and concerns.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is collaborative. I work from a framework that supports you in getting in better touch with all parts of yourself, to enable you to find solutions and aid in your healing and change. I will take an active stance in helping you, providing feedback and direction as needed.
