About Dr. John Dugan
As a gastroenterologist Dr. John Dugan sees patients with complaints such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, heartburn, trouble swallowing as well as multiple other gastrointestinal complaints. He specializes in gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and irritable bowel disease. Dr. Dugan also performs procedures including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, radiofrequency ablation of Barrett’s esophagus, and placement of wireless capsule for monitoring of reflux disease.
Dr. Dugan received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2010. Prior to medical school he worked as engineer after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University at College Station in 2002. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Dugan continued his education at University of Texas Medical School where he completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Dugan was honored to receive the Cheves and Isabella Smythe Excellence Award, given to the resident that exemplifies the qualities of “Selfless, Mentor, Young at heart, Thinker, Healer and Excellence”. In addition, he received the Monica Monet Holloway Barrett, MD Award, given to the graduating internal medicine resident who exemplifies the professional qualities of integrity, excellence in patient care, leadership in community service and kindness of spirit.
At University of Texas Medical School at Houston he went on to complete a gastroenterology fellowship and worked in three institutions: MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.

After getting results of my Xray I asked his staff if I could please receive a call from Dr. Dugan to discuss the findings as all they told me was to do further testing with a CT scan. The doctor NEVER called me and when I called the office to request to talk to him, his nurse was HORRIBLE. She cut me off when I was speaking, was condescending and overall a completely rude and bothered human being. I still don't know what is wrong with me, it's been a week now and I don't even want to call back to deal with his staff. Really frustrated with the lack of care in the conventional medical community.

This was my first visit with Dr. Dugan but so far, I am very impressed. I felt like he was really listening to me and communicating with me, not at me. We have a plan moving forward and then we'll see how things progress from here. It feels so much better to know that I'm finally being heard and I finally have a plan.
