Getting to know Dr. Jordan Metsky

DISCLAIMER: Provider does not take Insurances Hello, I’m Dr. Jordan Metsky. The world of mental health can be overwhelming and confusing at times. I started Perch Integrative Psychiatry to help people find a soft place to land. Whether you’ve had a long history of mental health care, have new concerns that you want to explore, or are trying to seek care for your child, I’m honored that you’ve considered including me in your journey to better health. I believe that psychiatry is an art as well as a science. As I get to know you, I’ll create a customized treatment plan that strives to meet your personal goals. I am a Board Certified Johns Hopkins and Rutgers trained psychiatrist who treats children, teens, and adults. I graduated from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018 and went on to complete a General Adult Psychiatry Residency at Trinitas-Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. I have clinical experience in treating a wide variety of mental health concerns including Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, OCD, and ADHD. I have a special interest in working with people who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. I also have specialized training in Psychodynamic Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY) associated with NYU-Langone Health and have been a fellow of the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis (WBCP). My writings have appeared in numerous scholarly publications, and I have presented original research on Telemedicine and Telepsychiatry internationally. As a physician, I am trained to use evidence-based medications and I complement that with other non-medical treatments, therapies, and lifestyle modifications. Not every patient needs medications, so I work with patients and families to find treatments that fit their individual needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Jordan Metsky/Perch Integrative Psychiatry is an out-of-network provider which means that we do not take insurance. Dr. Metsky aims to create a safe and inclusive environment. Dr. Metsky focuses on education. Treatments are customized to meet the individual goals of each patient and may include medications, complementary therapies such as supplements, and lifestyle modifications.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

New patient appointments are 90 minutes for people ages 12 and older. For patients younger than 12, generally new patient appointments are split into two hours (can be spread between two different days) where the first hour is spent gathering history from the parent/guardian, and the second hour is spent meeting with the child and then providing education to the family and determining a treatment plan. Follow up appointments are generally 30 minutes long but can be 45 or 60 minutes depending on the needs and preferences of the patient/family. Generally, new patients should expect to have follow ups about once a month. Once stabilized, follow ups generally occur once every 2-3 months. At this time, all new patients are being seen virtually (via telemedicine platforms.) We can discuss meeting in person for a follow-up appointment depending on patient/provider preference .
